A Delightful Read,
By
This review is from: Liberty Porter, First Daughter (Hardcover)
I picked up a copy of this book since my daughters have read several other books by Julia DeVillers and enjoyed them very much. While I would say most of her other books are geared for the late tween/teen age, this one is clearly geared for the early tween years. It's written from the perspective of a 9 year old girl who's dad has just become President. The book follows Liberty through inauguration day where she does lots of typical kid like things (getting antsy waiting for speeches, being very excited about having certain priviledges from living in the White House, and wanting to prove herself worthy of being the President's daughter, to name a few). It has some really cute supporting characters including her secret service agent SAM, and a whole host of kids she buddies up with when she joins their White House tour. There is even the grumpy staff person who she has to win over with her cuteness.
I love that the way it's written....it really does seem like it's in the vernacular of a 9 year old child. One of my favorite sayings is when she talks about her dad "oathing the office" as he becomes President. And she uses made up words with -tastic tagged to the end of them, her favorite being pres-tastic! There is also some great trivia about some of the past president's kids. I would definitely reccommend getting this book, it's adora-tastic and deligh-tastic all in one!

Libery Porter First Daughter was exciting and fun to read. I liked reading about Liberty Porter's adventures in the White House. After I read this book I wished I lived in the White House! It seems so big and full of adventures. I loved this book and hopfully there will be more like it! This review was written by Nicole - a 6th grade student

I picked up this book for 7 year old daughter to add to her summer reading list. She read it cover to cover last night, and couldn't stop giggling. To quote her "it was so funny that I almost bust a gut". This book is a fun way to get young kids excited about chapter books. She can't wait to read more Julia DeVillers books!

This review is from: Liberty Porter, First Daughter (Liberty Porter First Daughter) (Kindle Edition)
Most of the books by this author are for twelve year olds except fo this one and its sequel. I really like this one, I feel like Liberty is a real person. You really should get this book. Hey, it's so good, I'd pay 125 dollars for it. That's how good it is.

A Mom's Review -- Great for Young Tweens,
By
This review is from: Liberty Porter, First Daughter (Hardcover)
My 11-year-old daughter and I both read this book. She read it first and had told me that it was pretty good. When I read it, I told her that I REALLY liked it, and she agreed. She told me that she liked it "okay" but would have loved it if she was 8. I agree with her on that. I think that this would be a great book for younger tweens, or perhaps older ones who enjoy shorter books.
Liberty is a nine-year-old girl whose father has just been elected President (is it a coincidence that he bears a strong resemblance to Barack Obama and she looks like one of his cute daughters??). Liberty Porter: First Daughter basically covers Inauguration Day. The day starts in the Limo where her soon-to-be President dad sits on the card she made him -- complete with still-wet glittery smiley face on it. See -- being First Daughter isn't so different from being any other nine-year-old girl. After the ceremony, we follow Liberty as she gets acquainted with the White House, including her cool new room, the chocolate shop, and some of the White House employees -- ones she likes such as her secret agent, and others of whom she is not so fond. Throughout the book she shares fun facts about the White House and other First Kids (which she learned when she wrote her A+ report "What happened in the White House before the Porters took over"). This book was a lot of fun and the end of each chapter left me wanting to read "just one more."

Liberty Porter is Funny,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Liberty Porter, First Daughter (Hardcover)
I am 8 and I loved Liberty Porter! First I read Trading Faces and I thought it was great so I picked up Liberty Porter and couldn't even put it down. I read it in one night! My favorite part of the story was when Liberty and James went into the chocolate shop in the White House and tasted Porter butter cookies. It taught me all about the White House -- that there is a bowling alley, a movie theater and a free chocolate shop only for the presidents guests, family and maybe staff. I also loved when Liberty first got her pet Sugar Glider. I was finishing the 7th Harry Potter book but even stopped to have a look at Liberty Porter. It was great and I forgot to mention, funny too! I really liked Liberty Porter and am interested to see what she does next!

Liberty Porter is a Fun Book,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Liberty Porter, First Daughter (Hardcover)
My name is Meridian and I enjoyed reading Liberty Porter, First Daughter. It is a fun book about a girl whose dad is the president. Liberty has a cute dog named Franklin but he's not in the book much. Liberty and her friend, James, go on adventures through the White House. They even visit the room where President Lincoln slept! My favorite chapter is the one where Liberty slides around the White House in her socks. I like that part because it's silly. I think anyone who reads hilarious books should buy Liberty Porter, First Daughter.

Fun in the White House,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Liberty Porter, First Daughter (Hardcover)
My nine year old daughter read Liberty Porter from cover to cover in one afternoon. She liked it so much that we immediately ordered a second copy as a gift for her cousin. Julia DeViller's books always include fun characters that send a positive message to young girls. Liberty Porter is no exception, building on every girl's dream of living in the White House. If you are looking for a fun read with a positive message, I highly recommend Liberty Porter.

I've been fortunate enough to read Liberty Porter: First Daughter and it's delightful. Liberty is very excited about moving to her new house, and considering it's the White House, that's pretty cool. Liberty is fun, smart, full of gumption and serious about her duties as First Daughter. Julia DeVillers has captured the giddy excitement and glamour that comes with your dad being President, but also what it would really be like to be First Kid and the serious business that can entail. I'd say the book is for young readers on up. It's an easy read and there are lots of interesting facts (some things I didn't even know) and the story is so fun and clever, that I believe older kids would like to read it as well. If you know any young people that are fascinated by Malia and Sasha Obama and the inner workings of the White House, this is the book for them.
