I was mildly disappointed in this book and ended up returning it. I had previously purchased the Easy Piano Classics vols. 1 & 2 from the same publisher, and those books have arrangements that are easy enough but still sound awesome. The arrangements in the Folk Songs book are really too simple for me--for instance, its version of "Shenandoah" has single notes with both hands playing in unison, where the Piano Classics book would probably have a flowing motif or four-note chords. The book has some cute clip-art decoration, and it's organized by subject matter. But another disappointment was finding that about one fourth of it is Christmas songs, which are mostly duplicates of what I already have.

Learning to play,

I started out looking for one book and as usual saw a couple of others I couldn't live without. This is such a fun book and I have been having so much fun with my kids at work. It is such a different style from what they have grown up with and it is so interesting to watch them as they learn new things. I even have a couple of them that are trying a few of the songs on their keyboards.
