The Divine Princess of Tejano Scores Gold with "Libre",
By Ed (Texas USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Libre (Audio CD)
"Libre" signifies "freedom". Upon listening to Jennifer Pena's new cd entitled "Libre", I was taken aback by the diversity the cd offers. Beginning from the ballad "El Dolor de tu prescenia" to happy- go- lucky "Vamos al Mundial". Jennifer Pena voice has matured and is shown in the music. The first single introduced to one was "Vamos al Mundial" which was the theme song for the 2002 World Cup. This song is a perfect theme song with lyrics like "Come on, Come on, let's go! Vamos al mundial!" The second single released was "El dolor de tu presencia". After listening to the song for the first time, I must say I got chills. The smoothness of her vocals and transitions from verse to chrous is done to perfection. Next we got to listen to the follow up single entitled "Entre el delirio y La Locura" which is offered in three different styles of music; Ballad, Groupera, and cumbia. I personally prefer the ballad style, but all three styles present a nice subtle vibe. I would recomend this album to anyone who is a fan of pop/tejano music. The fact that I grew up listening to Jennifer Pena since the release of her first album, I am able to fully understand why Jennifer Pena entitled her new album "Libre". The power and range of Jennifer's voice is tremendous. I give this album five stars. Great Job Jennifer!

Libre is by far the best music Jennifer has ever done. Her vocals are so great it show's how far she has come from Q-Productions.Libre is listened to by people that don't even understand Spanish and enjoy her very much. Every song is great, no fillers. Univision has taken her out of Texas to the world. She's very talented and will be known as well as Jennifer Lopez,Shakira and Thalia. All you have to do is Listen to her voice and you hear the music.

Jennifer Peña's new CD Libre is all you could look for in variety. From tejano, cumbia, pop y baladas this has everything you could need to start a latin collection. Look out for her previous release, Abrazame y Besame as well. Also that great video that comes included on the CD is great to watch if you've got quicktime.

I am a big Jennifer fan. This particular CD is a great CD, but it takes several listenings to really fall in love with it - unlike 'Abrazame y Besame', which I fell in love with on the first listening. Personally, I like the Cumbia songs on this cd best, especially 'Corazón Bandido' and 'Fuego Lento [Version Cumbia]'. The catchy 'Que Me Ame Más' is also a big winner.

I have been a huge Jennifer Pena fan since I saw her in Lubbock, Tx doing a Selena Tribute. She is awesome! Her first CD's get an A for effort she tried, but Libre gets A++++++ for everything. She made a very smart move working with Univision Records. All her songs are fun and have so much energy she is truly one talented individual, I just wish she got more exposure :)

I first heard Jennifer Pena's song "Vamos al Mundial" when the World Cup started.... Since then I have listened to her cd "Libre" about 1000 times.... I swear it's like listening to a more mature Salena.... I hope Jennifer Pena will be around for many more years making cd after cd... Her music is just a pure delight to listen to, even if you don't speak Spanish....
