This review is from: Libyan Sands: Travel in a Dead World (Paperback)
Ralph Bagnold became an expert in travelling over desert terrain in Eqypt in the 1920's and 30's by vehicle, following in the footsteps of the Light Armored Car desert patrols of the First World War. This book is the story of Bagnold's pioneering desert expeditions and his interest in developing techniques for desert travel. This was all put to good use in the Second World War when Bagnold became he founder and first Commanding Officer of the Long Range Desert Group - where many of his first recruits were intrepid New Zealanders (as are we all....).

A great read!
