Lice and Nit Eliminating Natural Mousse with Foam Applicator Kit

Pros

*Gets the nits out (clinically proven to dissolve nit glue)
*Doesn't stink or burn scalp
*Doesn't damage hair
*You can use regular conditioner afterwards

Cons

*You have to use a lot to get the job done (20-30 puffs or 1-2 oz), it is a very light mousse, but there is plenty in the bottle
*Time consuming - you apply, wait 5 min, and then apply some more, wait 5 more min, Then comb it out. But what lice treatment ISN'T time consuming?

If a lice product can be amazing, this one is. We have dealt with head lice three different times (having gotten rid of it in between each of these episodes). The first two times were absolutely horrible - used the OTC lice treatments, and spent hours combing through hair, picking off the nits, and then doing so again about a week later to make sure they were gone. I was tired of lathering poison onto some very precious heads, so did some research and bought Nit Free Mousse shampoo to keep on hand, just in case they picked up head lice again. We just followed the directions on the bottle. The combing out was amazingly easy and after we rinsed their hair, we were literally in total awe because there was not ONE nit found on either head! It was easy, it worked, and I could feel good about not having put poison on my kids' heads.

We tried every solution and method I could google--over the counter pesticide, mayo, white vinegar, tea tree oil, peppermint oil, listerine and all of them helped but none compare to this product that kills both the lice and more importantly the eggs, too. I was shocked when after applying it, I sprayed the Neon Nit spray to locate nits that they were all but gone! After applying it and using the Terminator comb to get rid of any dead ones, we were finally nit and lice free! Even better, it's natural--not toxic like the other products out there that don't work. I was on the verge of calling the pediatrician for that nasty cancer in a bottle,Ovide. Anyway, I can't say enough about this product and strongly recommend it be used in combo with the Terminator comb and Neon Nit spray. Don't waste your time and money on other stuff....it's a waste and you can spend that time cleaning and preventing re-infection instead.

We struggled with lice for several months this spring and I didn't want to use the heavier chemical treatments. We opted to order this foam along with the Nit-free Terminator Comb, just in case they showed up again, which they did!

Positives:
*the foam was fairly odorless and non-irritating to my children's skin/eyes. The amount of time we had to wait with it on our heads was reasonable (I think from beginning to end, we were out of the bathroom/shower in a little over an hour...this includes combing which is the tedious part)
*I got several treatments out of that one bottle---maybe 4 or 5?--certainly more than I expected

Why It's Not Perfect:
*Although it did get rid of many of the nits and lice, it didn't get rid of every single one. I found a few still live on my head while combing out. And, after treating as prescribed, the next day I treated again (just to be sure) and found one or two more. So it's effective, but not 100 percent. You still have to be vigilant.

Having said that, if we got lice again, I would not hesitate to order the foam again, but I would have my guard up that it's not a perfect solution. The Nit-free Terminator Comb was the true silver bullet--I finally got rid of the lice in my hair by using that comb faithfully EVERY time I got out of the shower for about two weeks. I also had my best success going through my children's hair outdoors in very bright sunlight. It's true that eradicating lice is a tedious process, but have hope--they can be conquered with persistence!

This foam certainly beats other alternative treatments we tried (mayo, olive oil, with vinegar rinses)...it was less yucky and less time consuming.

I bought this product after using the traditional lice shampoo. This is the only thing I found that broke down the glue on the nits successfully. After applying the product as descibed on the label I put a little conditioner in my daughters hair and went through it with the nit comb. I did't find a single nit after I was done. We are going on 6 weeks lice free.

I have been battling with lice for almost one year. (I'm sure we had the pesticide resistant lice that everyone is now talking about) My two girls HATE having their hair combed EVERY NIGHT!!! This product was the ONE that FINALLY worked! I did a treatment and though after I did rinse out the product my three year old had only 3 nits, yes 3!!! I was so happy! The three nits came out so easily. With regular shampoos and other lice treatments you have to work to get those nits out. I've had to cut individual strands of hair out with other products. I would be more than happy to use this product again if needed, but so far, so good!!! And trust me, I would know. I've tried everything from lice shampoos to new rx products to mayonaisse (I couldn't eat sandwiches for weeks)...this is the only product that didn't stink and that was actually successful! Thank goodness for this product!!!!

We have had 3 battles (and I mean battles) with lice. The first time around we tried the over the counter stuff but were just frustrated to still find live lice on my child's head afterwards. And then there was the continuous nit picking which on a child with long, thick hair is just tedious. Thankfully a relative recommended Nit Free, a non-toxic alternative. It contains enzymes that kill the lice and dissolves the nits. The foam is great for keeping it on the head rather than wasting half the bottle down the drain (this happened with a different product). Tip: use a dry washcloth to keep it out of a child's eyes. Also, come up with games (like eye spy) or stories to entertain or distract during the intervals when the hair is soaking. You can also order the terminator comb which seems to work better than other combs we've tried.

Having fought lice with my kids before, I can honestly say this product is on par with other over-the-counter treatments, such as Rid or Nix. It seems to get the job done as effectively as these two products without the harsh smell or chemicals.

That being said, this product isn't a one-time fix all. Just like with any of these products, I've found the only way to get rid of the lice for good is patience and persistence. The terminator comb is helpful, but it really isn't any different than those given with Nix and Rid, it's just a different shape. To get rid of the lice completely, you must go through the hair with a bright light (bright sunlight works well) 1/4 inch at a time to remove every single nit. If you kill all the live lice and you leave even one nit behind (this product did not get rid of all the nits the first time through) it will hatch and you will have live lice again.

Don't count on this product and comb to get rid of the nits completely. As with any lice removing product, you still must 'nit pick', continue to comb through the hair daily and retreat in seven days. With kids with long hair, I've found that treatments must be repeated every seven days for three to four weeks, with daily comb throughs, washing linens and towels in hot water, lots of vacuuming, and going through the hair thoroughly every few days. It's a major pain, but if you are persistent, it works.

All that said, I would definitely use this product again as it does equally as good a job as Nix or Rid. I feel much better about putting this product on my kid's heads than the those with the strong odor and harsh chemicals that can easily fry the scalp.

There is enough product in one bottle to treat two heads of medium to long hair one time, which makes this product cost effective. Four stars.

We've had the same recent struggles with lice as many others and this was the 4th product/remedy we tried. Nothing else seemed to be doing the trick. The foam is supposed to dissolve the glue and seems to work well, but you still have to be diligent about the thorough combings. I was disappointed when I went to order more to keep just in case. The price had increased, and it was also no longer eligible for prime shipping, which we have. This doubled the price so I didn't order any more.
