4.0 out of 5 stars Fun quick read August 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Okay, last night I was able get through Stephanie Bond's License to Thrill. Oh my what a fun witty read. Here's a quick sum up of what's it about:

James Donovan is a former British secret agent. Yep, you know that's sexy and don't lie. James was asked to help transport a possible valuable item to the states for a friend/former lover.

Kat McKray a museum curator has been asked to examine the documents James has travel with. Kat has her doubts about the authenticity of the papers.

James can't pass up the opportunity to get to know the little curator a little better. After all he is a playboy secret agent. She tries to resist his charm, but caves into going to dinner with him.

They have a charming time. After all is said and done they depart ways. This is where the story starts to turn into the mystery. Sometime after midnight, someone steals the papers and the blame is place on Kat. Oh no, right. With no alibi to help her out, she could be facing serious jail time. Will James come to the rescue of Kat or will he go on his merry way?

Yep, that's right I liked this quick read. I mean first off, who doesn't love an ex-british secret agent who drips with charm and sex appeal. If that doesn't scream hero, I don't know what does. I actually like that you couldn't figure out who the real culprit was until the end. I mean you have all these possible suspects and they each can be found guilty. So, if you get a chance to check this out License to Thrill, you might enjoy this quick fun witty read. I like it, but that's my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the lack of sleep! September 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I should have read the other reviews that warned that it was hard to put this one down! Of course, I should have just known that it would be the case anyway since so many of Stephanie Bond's books have had the same effect on my sleep and lack thereof. I read the first chapter over a couple of days while waiting for my son's school bus to drop him off and then started at chapter 2 when I should have been falling asleep. And I finished the book. I already have a weakness for British men so now I find myself daydreaming about yet another fictional character. [And yes, there's a tad more sex in this than I usually read but I didn't consider it to be at all raunchy and it's easy to skim over/skip if you so desire. Typically I do ... this time? Well, remember that weakness I have for British men? ;)]

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun romance September 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Ok so I've read all the reviews and I've read the book. I'm not sure where people are saying that it has all these sexy scenes (yes there were one or two that I can remember that were spelled out but the rest were implied....."The next morning") or that it's trying to be James Bond-ish. People, take this book for what it is, it's a fun romance that tips it hat towards Ian Fleming. The only thing this hero has in common with James Bond is that they are both English and were "super" spies in their time although the author does poke a lot of fun via her characters at her hero and his possible similaries. This is a classic boy meets girl from across the pond. Yes he's English and she's American. Yes, they are totally opposites but isn't that what you love about a good romance story? Not everyone wants to read about beautiful people hooking up but yes, we do love a howt guy! Anywho, this was a fun read with a nice little "who dunnit" in the middle. It's only 100+ pages, so it's not like you're going for a huge novel, buy it, enjoy it for what it is and leave it at that. If you want a quick read that will leave you with a cheesy smile on your face at the end because you know you love a good HEA, then I recommend it.

Stephanie Bond wrote License to Thrill as an homage to Ian Fleming's James Bond series. It was a good mystery, but the story was marred by Ms. Bond's graphic (and lengthy!) description of sex between her retired British secret agent James Donovan the female protagonist, Katherine McKray, whom he calls Pussy-Kat. The erotica was, quite frankly, boring, and Bond...and the reader...would be wise to skip it entirely. This book could have been 3 or even 4 stars without the sleaze.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! August 29, 2012
By ToniWI
Format:Kindle Edition
License to Thrill is a romantic mystery but make no mistake this is a mystery story with romance not the other way around. The mystery kept my guessing. There were twists and turns in both the mystery and the romance between the main characters. Kat Mckray and Donovan, James Donovan, were a good team. They followed the clues to the mystery and the romance.

I added License to Thrill to my TBRA list, to be read again list. Figuring out who done it had me carrying my eReader everywhere I went. Read it, you'll love it!

3.0 out of 5 stars As Promised: a Romantic Mystery March 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Stephanie Bond's breezy, fast-paced romantic mysteries strain credulity from time to time, but that is generally a small price to pay for laugh-out-loud funny lines. There weren't quite as many in this short novel, but it was still a pretty good Sunday afternoon read.

5.0 out of 5 stars License to Thrill (Bond) February 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a fast, fun, flirty, little sexy, full length, contemporary, romantic mystery, written by Bond... Stephanie Bond (wink!)
Kat McKray is the curator of a renowned museum in San Francisco. She is expecting the delivery of a potentially historic and very valuable love letter written by King George. She did not expect the handsome armed guard from London to accompany the letter, or to be the prime suspect when the letter is stolen!
James Donovan is a retired British Secret Service agent, who was asked by his ex-lover to ensure the delivery of the letter to the museum. He did not plan on staying long, or getting caught up in the intrigue surrounding his PussyKat, or horror of horrors... losing his heart!
I love Stephanie's books and own many of them. They are all well written, very creative, often humorous, and lots of fun to read and reread, all at a great price!

More About the Author

Stephanie Bond was several years into a corporate computer programming career when an instructor in her night school MBA program remarked that she had a flair for writing and encouraged her to submit one of her projects to academic journals. "But," Stephanie says, "all I could think was 'I wonder if I could write a romance novel?'" Bond grew up on a farm in eastern Kentucky where the entertainment choices were few. Luckily, she had a beloved aunt who shared her passion for reading. "When she visited once a year, she brought boxes and boxes of gothic novels by Victoria Holt and Phyllis Whitney and lush historical romances--I was in heaven! So suddenly thinking about writing in the genre of the books I loved was very exciting." After writing every spare moment for two years, Stephanie sold her first romantic comedy manuscript, IRRESISTIBLE? to Harlequin books. Two years later, she walked away from her corporate career to write commercial fiction full time. To date, she's published over 60 romance and mystery projects with Random House, St. Martin's Press, HarperCollins, and Mira Books, and is most well-known for her BODY MOVERS humorous mystery series. Her newest series is TWO GUYS DETECTIVE AGENCY (about two sisters whose last name is Guy). Stephanie lives in midtown Atlanta and is probably working on a story at this very moment.
