an amateur attempt at writing safe your money and time,
This review is from: Lie With Me (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
a ridiculous storyline made more annoying with the constant flux between first and second person perspectives make the suspension of disbelief nearly impossible and leaving no forgiveness for the gaping holes in the character history, or the progressive leaps taken without reason.

Lie With Me is just so-so,
By Susie (Alabama, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lie with Me (Harlequin Blaze) (Kindle Edition)
Lie With Me by Cara Summers is a Harlequin Blaze story with psychic/animal whisperer, Phyllis Angelis and wealthy CEO and her brother's best friend, Roman Oliver. This story has too many plots, and not enough character development. I didn't connect with the hero and heroine. The chemistry between them was steamy, but there was too much going on that distracted. There was the heroine talking to animals, theft of jewelry, two villains taking revenge on each other, a murder, it just seemed like too much. There wasn't enough build-up of their relationship. Phyllis has gone to Greece to get over Roman, who she has had a crush on for seven years. Now that she is older, she finally decides to proposition Roman to see if he might be interested in her as something other than a little sister. He turns her turn flat, but secretly he has longed for her as well. He is just worried about his relationship to her brother and their age difference. As soon as Roman hears that she has gone to Greece, he follows, worried that she might find someone else. Plus, he has a business contact in Greece that he needs to see. On her first day in Greece, Phyllis finds a dead man, gets shot at, talks to a cat who needs her help, and finally gets her man. The rest of the story involves the both of them trying to help the cat rescue his brother, trying to find out who shot the dead man, solving the theft of the jewelry, staying safe themselves, and having great sex. The love scenes are very steamy which is a bonus because all of the other added effects were lacking.

excellent paranormal romantic suspense thriller,
This review is from: Lie With Me (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
Animal psychic Philly Angelis has loved her brother's best friend Roman Oliver for years, but he does not reciprocate. As he recovered at Saint Jude's Trauma Center from a near fatal fall, she made her intentions clear to him; Roman shoots her down insisting he sees her as a little sister. He not only considers her off limits, Roman refuses to have a wife and children. He fear he will be just like his dad neglecting his family.
Roman displaces any desires for family by totally focusing on the family business. He dashes Philly's dream when he bluntly tells her she is a kid sister to him and no more. Needing to repair her damaged ego and move on, Philly travels to Corfu seeking a fling. Shaking his head in denial that he is not in love, Roman flies after her. However, Philly's psychic skills lead the pair to danger shocking Roman with how frightened he is for Philly. This is an excellent paranormal romantic suspense thriller starring a fascinating heroine who concludes she understands animals much better than people especially that strange other gender and a man who fears he is a chip off the old block so avoids entanglements. The story line is fast-paced especially in the Caribbean. Readers will enjoy running from danger alongside Philly and Roman while wanting to shake him for not seeing the obvious. Harriet Klausner |
