4.0 out of 5 stars Lie by Night Review March 25, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This romantic suspense keeps the reader on the edge of their seat from beginning to end. Emma Bailey’s search for her missing brother leads to an island where the one man who can help is the man she can’t trust. Cole Stevens is on a mission t take down a drug mastermind and his plans take an unexpected turn when Emma runs headfirst into his investigation. As the web of deceit unravels they will be forced to choose between fear of betrayal and their willingness to put their emotions on the line in order to save the ones they care for.

This fast paced plot keeps readers shivering with anticipation as the story progresses and the web gets thicker and more secrets and lies revealed. The author spins her story with vivid imagery and details that capture the imagination and makes the reader feel as they are part of the story. The characters are strong and compelling drawing the reader deeper into the drama as it unfolds.

The attraction between Emma and Cole burns steadily hotter as the story progresses with some hot & steamy sex scenes but the relationship is hampered by secrets and not knowing who they can trust. It’s easy for the reader to relate to each character and understand their side of things when the author conveys their personalities and emotions so clearly. Emma impresses the reader with her courage and ingenuity in the situation she finds herself involved in and Cole’s loyalty to those he cares for and his determination to bring the bad guy down makes him such an attractive and endearing hero.

I really enjoyed this mesmerizing story and the captivating characters although the story keeps referring to a past event that led to this one and I would really like to have read the entire story, maybe the author can go back and write a prequel, of course I would like to know more about some of the other characters too, so I’m not sure which I would rather her write first…hmmm.

4.0 out of 5 stars How Important is Family to You??? March 24, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
4.5 Stars

This was my first Cathy Marlowe book and it won't be my last. I LOVE entangled publishing authors.

I will not bore you with the whole plot of the book, for that you can read the synopsis and I will not leave any spoilers.

Emma Bailey loves her brother, will do anything for him, so when he sends her something and asks her to take care of it until he can get there to retrieve it that's just what she does. However, when he fails to show up she decides to head out and found him. Of course, its never as simple as that.

Cole is on a mission of his own and of course it includes Bailey's brother (unbeknownst to her). He befriends Jacob under false pretenses which of course leads to a huge misunderstanding between Cole and Emma.

These characters (including secondary characters) are awesome. The story is filled with a little bit of everything including drugs, violence, murder, and sex.

The chemistry between Cole and Emma rocks!!! Of course, the arguments are just as hot as the chemistry. Neither trusts the other, but they must work together to right the wrongs. I will say there were times that I was so frustrated with both of them that I just wanted to scream...REALLY guys!!!

Do we really know whose who....I think not! If you love thrills, chills, unexpected twists and turns, frustration, intrigue, really great characters, and some did that just happen moments than you must read this book.

I was given this ARC by NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review. I'd like to thank the publisher (whom I love) for introducing me to yet another great author. Thank you Cathy for taking me on a journey that I won't soon forget with characters that I will remember forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best kind of suspenseful romance March 25, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is definitely a fun and suspenseful read. The book is fast-paced and it's hard to put down! The main characters have interesting backgrounds and really great interactions. This book reminded me some of Suzanne Brockmann's books (which I love). They have the same type of thrill, character development, and exciting storylines. Marlowe does set herself apart though in a way you'll find out.

The only complaint is that I wanted it to be longer!

4.0 out of 5 stars Suspensful romance March 27, 2014
By mennina
Format:Kindle Edition
Emma's closest relative her brother has gone missing. She receives an note telling her to go to an island. She goes there to rescue him and in stead finds Cole. She realizes in a short amount of time the Cole is also searching for her brother, but she isn't sure if Cole is friend or foe.

Cole is using any way possible to take down a drug criminal that has hurt him and his closest family. He thinks that Emma's brother is possibly involved with this drug lord and is a key suspect.

Cole and Emma have a history with Emma believing that Cole slept with her brothers fiance. There is such a strong connection between them but she can never betray her brother. Can she trust Cole?

Great book. They are searching for Emma's brother as well as trying to find this drug lord who was recently released from a mental ward. There a lot of ups and downs in the book and Emma's character struggles with trying to fight her feelings and then trying to decide if she can trust Cole whom she is falling in love with.

I was provided a copy of this book for my honest review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lie By Night March 24, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This is my first time in reading this author but chose it on what it was about because was looking for a good one filled with intrigue. Great beginning that started out with a mystery that had me hooked right away. Emma is looking for her brother who is missing but has no one to turn to for help so off she goes when she is given a clue. Creepy places are great to start with keeps you on edge of your seat on what is going to happen and if she is doing right thing. But help will come unexpectedly from a form of a alpha male who keeps her from getting hurt-Cole. Escape will also be something they both have to do to continue on in this adventure together trusting each other regardless if they had planned that or not. The whats, whys and wheres are big time is this story and anyone like me who loves to read these kind loves to solve a mystery right along with the characters involved. When mutual attraction turns to more that is a added bonus and another reason enjoyed reading this. They also have met before so fun times in reading the building of this relationship between these two while experiencing the adventure this author gives. Men also such as Cole should not underestimate the mind of a beautiful woman either because of the help they can give when least expected or thought of. This is a fast pace novel that keeps you engaged and enjoying it to the fullest every step of the way. The romance contained in this also is more the adequate to fulfill anyone one who reads this for the romance value. Bad guys galore and it is sometimes hard to tell who they are that also makes for the fun of this novel. Very satisfying ending for sure with no disappointments.

More About the Author

Hello! I live in Missouri with my husband and a huge chocolate lab who tortures my spouse by plucking and eating his heirloom tomatoes just as they ripen! I have three great children. My daughter is a thoughtful reader of my early drafts, and my boys...well, they keep promising to read my books.

The Out of Darkness Series consists of sexy thrillers that explore what it means to trust someone when a master of deceit has woven a tapestry of lies and manipulation almost impossible to overcome. When I read, I like thrillers that keep you turning pages late into the night, while providing some humor amidst tension and angst as the hero and heroine trust their hearts to overcome obstacles.

I enjoy dark chocolate mint M&Ms accompanied by a steaming mug of coffee, like the theory of exercise more than the reality, and believe each person has the power to change the world.

I hope you love the Out of Darkness books and thank you for reading!
