This review is from: Liebelei [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I'm not sure which inspired inspired what. But I do know that Liebelei is part of a lineage that contains the greatest woods and snow cinematography in the history of film. This family also includes The Earrings of Madame De . . ., Shoot the Piano Player, The Conformist, and possibly Miller's Crossing and Fargo (although these last two may be stretching things a bit). One of my favorite Ophuls' films. I recommend it to anyone who likes Letter from An Unknown Woman.

If you know of other films that have beautiful scenes in the woods and the snow, please let me know at ggoodm@aol.com.
