2.0 out of 5 stars Wouldn't make a BAD L&O or Cops Episode, July 4, 2006

This review is from: Lieberman's Thief (Henry Holt Mystery) (Hardcover)
Kaminsky is so off base from his normal quality of writing that this would make an embarrasing episode for Magnum PI. Everyone and I do mean everyone in this story is a stereotype and cartoon character (who would shame Homer Simpson).

The rich people are coniving backstabbers and obnoxious to boot. The asians are from an old Charlie Chan movie (including number one son). The hispanics are all petty crooks and gang members. The blacks are dumb as stumps and as animated as a ghetto blaster. The Jews are doctors (two), two of the 'alter cockers' are suing each other, and a Rabbi (reformed of course) is suing

Abe over the purchase of his house.

The whole story is the murder of the rich guys wife while he's at a chambre music concert. His house is full of valuable antiques and he's having an affair with his wealthy friend's (who dying of cancer) wife. The B&E guy (Polish or Ukrainian) who breaks in on the murder, lives at home with his mother (is a two time looser) and wants to be a painter.

Enough said! Too much said. Very sad, indeed.
