This is the Metropolis re-release of Snog's first two albums, Lies Inc. and Dear Valued Customer. (A few bonus tracks are added as well.)

Both discs are quite fun to listen to. Musically, it takes a more techno-ish approach and you can tell that D. Thrussel is influenced by groups like Kraftwerk. Yet, the work is quite original and creative in its presentation.

Lyrically, both discs are more of the same for Thrussel. This is not a bad thing though. The lyrics of each song are written and delivered in a very witty and whimsical manner despite the actual content. Thus, creating some very dark things which are quite fun to sing along to.

This is definitely not Snog's best material. However, it is still very very good - a must for fans and newcomers alike.

Which makes Snog something of a rare commodity in itself. As dubious the label "intelligent dance music" is, it definitely applies to Snog. The judicious use of such samples as Spaghetti-western themes and conspiracy theory quotes showcases Thrussel's twisted wit, while the solid beats and steady melodies show a competency of craft that is increasingly rare in "popular" techno. As for the lyrics, they speak for themselves, even if you can't always make out Thrussel's voice (think Marilyn Manson with bronchitis) over the beats. Sinister, ominous political insights with an unrepenting leftist bent. This is a CD for anyone.. if that special anyone appreciates both respectably intelligent techno music and social commentary with a Schopenhauerian tone and a Marxist message.
