Thanks for the reflection!,
This review is from: Life 101: For the Young and Young at Heart! (Paperback)
With the day-to-day lifestyle transitions, it is refreshing to enjoy a book that applies today's life experiences to lifestyle situations in the retrospect----what a clever idea! Caren Adams' Life 101 has exposed her life's misfortunes, near misses, failures, successes, triumphs and accolades, while outlining ways in which her readers can apply the same attributes towards their own personal growth and prosperity. Though there were some editing faux pas, they were immediately transcended by enlightening lessons, funny and spiritual nostalgia, some "you should and should not," "hated it then...but,love it now," and "bless it, instead of mess it." Thanks, Caren, for your insight and allowing me to "smell the roses," which are usually an oversight!

Life 101: For the Young and the Young at Heart
by Caren A. Adams This how-to- book based on Caren Adams' own life experiences, seeks easy to follow solutions to everyday problems. For instance, she tackles how to stop blaming others for your own shortcomings, living life in the moment, never giving up and making our everyday lives more simple. She provides practical solutions using her own life experiences. In theory, this book was a great idea! What a great way to impart one's knowledge to many different people in different walks of life. However, her tone was extremely condescending; the prose was very difficult to follow and I had to put the book down every few "lessons" or so in order to give my eyes and brain a rest. It was very poorly edited and the grammer left much to be desired. Sentences often had two different tenses in it, while talking about the same event. Oftentimes, sentences were missing commas and other aspects of sentence structure that should have been included in order for the sentence to make sense; at other times, the commas were inappropriately placed or overly used. This book would have been great if it had been edited better but as it is, it was difficult to read. Sometimes, I got the sense that Ms. Adams was thinking and writing so fast, that she forgot to put down words. However, I did like how Ms. Adams split up her chapters though because the sub-parts made sense. Generally speaking though, this book was difficult for me to get through. Life 101 For the Young and Young at Heart!,
This review is from: Life 101: For the Young and Young at Heart! (Paperback)
Life 101 is conversational in its writing style provoking me to think more deeply about my own life, with lessons from someone else's perspective. I am pleased when I actually learn something from a book that I can immediately use, especially, about how others are managing their money and their sacrifices but not leaving me feeling as if I have to be perfect. I enjoyed how practical and simple the lessons were, just the right amount of information on such subjects as organization, relationships, goal setting, and money, to name a few. I would recommend the book to anyone wanting to improve their life. It is an excellent self-growth book, and most anyone would enjoy reading the book but for me, it was the perfect little book.
