Life goes on...,
By
This review is from: Life After Cash Money (Audio CD)
Cash Money Records was one of those labels out of New Orleans whose artists seemed to be on top of the world...for two years. Not that they weren't good after that, but it seemed like they were being paid less and less attention to. B.G. must have noticed this, as he quickly left the label after somewhat disappointing sales of his album Checkmate. He jumped to Koch and created his own sub-label, Chopper City Records, where he put out Livin Legend and now, the aptly-titled Life After Cash Money. Now, don't expect this album to be like Chopper City In the Ghetto. That doesn't mean the album is without its highlights, though; "My World (I Want It)" was a good choice for a first single. Other notables are "Walk With Me" and "Right Now". And the late Soulja Slim joins B.G. for another highlight, "Like That". The album also has problems, however. First of all, it clocks in at almost 77 minutes. And like with most rap albums that are too long, things start to drag during the second half of it. We know that the album is called Life After Cash Money, but B.G.'s constant talk about leaving the label and his disses to Baby (not to mention that he STILL announces his name at the beginning of every track) start to get monotonous after a while. Another problem on the album is his choice of guest stars. Things are fine sometimes, like when he has known guest stars like T.I. ("Street N") and Big Gipp ("Do What You Wanna Do"). And "Get Wild With It" with Ying Yang Twins is okay, but let's face it; it's no "Salt Shaker". But when he brings aboard members of his new crew, it's obvious that they need more practice on the mic. This is especially obvious on "Factory", but the songs for the ladies are just stupid; check "I Wanna F" or "Don't Wanna Be Without You" to see what I mean. And in "Bust a Move", the chorus "If you wanna F me/Like I wanna F you/Stop stuntin' baby girl/And do what you do" definitely isn't all that. B.G.'s life after leaving Cash Money seems to be going fine (after all, how many other artists can survive more than one album on Koch?), but it would be going even better if he got better guest stars and trimmed the filler. Let's hope he does that for his next album. Anthony Rupert

B. Gizzle is back with his eighth solo album "Life After Cash Money" The album starts off strong with "Geezy Where U Been" which is one of the hottest songs on the album. "My Life", My World "I Want It" (The 1st single), and "Don't Talk To Me" are all tyte cuts, but the album gets a little commercialized toward the middle part with songs like "Get Wild With It" and "Walk With Me", but it picks back up with songs like "Factory", "Right Now", "Street Nigga" feat. T.I., "Like That" with Soulja Slim and "Hold That Thought" Overall its a pretty solid album, but in my opinion "Livin' Legend" was much better.Other B.G. Albums True Story - 3/5 Chopper City - 5/5 All On U Vol. 1 - 4/5 All On U Vol. 2 - 5/5 Chopper City In The Ghetto - 3/5 Checkmate - 4/5 Livin' Legend - 5/5 Also look for "Didn't See It Comin" by B.G. and the late great Soulja Slim (R.I.P.)

B.G. Still At The Top of His Game.,

B.G. still has what it takes to shine as an artist, even without the help of Cash Money Records. To be honest, this is the best album put out by any ex-Cash Money artist. B.G. proves that he doesn't need anyone to live a good life even after his fallout with Cash Money.
