Excellent Book from the Christian Perspective,
By
This review is from: Life After Death: Rediscovering Life After Loss of a Loved One (Paperback)
I'm only about 1/2 way through this book but have found a lot of comfort and understanding in its pages. My brother recently lost his 26 year old pregnant wife to an anurysm. Our family is very tight-knit and we want to be there for him but really can't fully comprehend what he is going through. A young person passing is so difficult to accept and this book does a great job explaining everything from what happens when we die to the stages of grief, there is even a chapter that talks about when youth die. It has helped me to better understand what my brother is going through as well as help me through my own grief. I feel like my review isn't doing the book justice, but if you are looking for a good Christian book on grieving this book is a great one.

This review is from: Life After Death: Rediscovering Life After Loss of a Loved One (Paperback)
After reading this book, I am convinced of God's love and provision for me as I make transistion during a difficult time in my life. After being married for 36 years, I find myself widowed, but knowing that God has not left me or forsaken me. I thank God for Tony Cooke and the insight given in this book.

I lost my husband less than 3 weeks ago. I'm still in the early stages of grief, but this book is a life saver. I have not finished reading, but I take it a chapter at a time and the scripture reference through out the pages provide so much comfort and remind me that God is in control and is there with me through this entire process. God bless Tony Cooke for writting this book.

A friend of my son gave me a copy of this book shortly after my husband died. With all the encouraging words written in cards & the personal calls I received from friends, this was the most powerful source of healing literature that I came across that helped me get through my grief. Reading this book was as if the author had a personal conversation with me to know how to put in writing exactly what I was feeling. The emotions one goes through after losing a loved one is written in such detail that it allows the reader to connect and relate. The author outlines the different phases of grief, ways to combat the forces that would keep you hostage to that grief, and is paralled & authenticated with bible scriptures. His explanation of the different phases of grief reassured me that the grieving process was a 'normal' process and that there is no measuring stick on how or how long someone will grieve. Everyone is different. This book confirmed that it was not unusual to question your purpose in life, to feel a sense of loss, and provided ways on how to overcome that overwhelming distressing feeling of what seemed to be the 'finality' of death. I learned that what I was feeling was "OK" and that things, with time and prayer, would get better. Over the years I have purchased several copies of this book and have given to friends who lost loved ones. I highly recommend.

My mom recommended this book to me after we lost my grandmother. It is very helpful and full of Biblical reference. It takes you through various stages that you may encounter during your time of grief. I wish we had found ours sooner! I have since passed on two copies to dear friends at church and they have told me the same thing, it is so helpful and they keep it by their side. It is worth the time to read even when you don't feel like reading. Trust me, I'm in those shoes. God bless..
