This review is from: Life After Residency: A Career Planning Guide (Paperback)
I bought this book and another book entitled "The Ultimate Guide to Finding the Right Job After Residency." They are both small, succinct, and helpful, and good compliment to one another. "Life After Residency" is about 50 pages- quick read- and takes you from types of practices and writing a CV/cover letter all the way to getting your license in a new state, obtaining malpractice insurance, and managing your finances. It also covers the job interview and contract negotiation tips. The book is mostly common sense but still quite helpful. For those thinking about buying it, I definitely would. That being said, I do prefer "The Ultimate Guide" which has a timeline for your job search and goes more into different payment options (fixed, productivity based, and variations thereof), as well as all the same chapters offered by "Life After." It is a little longer but still short and succinct. Both had odd examples for CVs and I ended up using the internet as a better guide. Both have tiny sections on using your MD for careers outside of medicine which I would think if you were considering it these books are not that useful.
