The Best of the Best ... IMO,
By
This review is from: Life Artist (Paperback)
Ali's new book is the book that I've been waiting for. She gives you permission to do things your way, then gives you page after page of inspiration that literally has you bursting at the seams to get busy and create. Notice I didn't use the words "scrap" or "crop". There is nothing wrong with those words, but that's not what this book is all about. The title: "Life Artist" is perfect. Each chapter is another step toward encouraging you to let go of perfection and formulas - - - encouraging you to tell your own story in words and pictures. Her introduction tells about her own journey and how she decided that "life artist" more accurately discribed what it was that she did. The first chapter: "IT IS OK" reminded me of the phrase I often use "It just doesn't matter!" A mantra I started repeating to myself when I started "doing it over until it was RIGHT".
If you're in the mood for something that will free up your personal creativity - then you will love this book. I absolutely give it my highest endorsement!!!

Another great Ali book,

Kudos to Ali for another great book. If you are looking for a book on the premise of her first two though, you may be surprised. It's not like the other two previous books where she instructs you on how to do this or that...this is more of what I would call a pep talk book that tells you it's OK to do things your way...it's OK for things not to be perfect...to creat YOUR way, and not another's way. That it's more important to tell your life's story than to worry about perfection. I love Ali's philosophy and how she shows that in her work...if you love her philosophy of "It's OK" and "Embrace Imperfection" you will love this book. And still many many great layouts to make you want to run to your craft table and make something. If you feel in a rut or feel that your art isn't quite good enough...Ali's book may just be the pep talk you need!

Challenges your thinking,
By
This review is from: Life Artist (Paperback)
This book is fantastic but don't expect step-by-step instructions on how to recreate Ali's projects. This book will challenge your perception on scrapbooking as a form of art and creativity. She offers tons of challenges in the book that are inspiring and freeing if you try them. The book challenges us to step away from Creative Memories formulas and try anything and everything in your scrapbook/mini book/wall art.
Buy this book, read it and be inspired. You absolutely won't be disappointed.

This book exceeded my expectations in every way. Its as though Ali is speaking directly to the reader and if you are a die hard scrapbooker like I am, she addresses all the issues unique to people like us. This book takes the hobby of scrapbooking and transforms it into a formal practice called Life Art. I really hope the new title takes off because I want to use it define my work.

Even if you read the whole book and don't get a single idea for your own scrapbooking, it's OK. And that's one of the first lessons in a book about cultivating an attitude which will free the life artist within you to create pages and albums and other projects which reflect your personality and vision. It's OK.
Although Life Artist is divided into chapters with themes, the book is essentially a series of two-page spreads with reflections about the themes the author, Ali Edwards, feels are an important part of creating work that is unique and personal. Although it can be a fast read, it's worthy of a more reflective approach.

Just be YOU. Changing my point of view...,
By
This review is from: Life Artist (Paperback)
Just finished reading the book a few hours ago, and it's awesome!!!
Ali's made me think in a different way about how I should be living and experiencing my creative side. As she writes, Just be YOU, that's the point. We are the best to tell our stories, to enjoy our creativity no matter what others think about it. I should be getting my inspiration back shortly, so I'll try to be ready and go through the book a few more times. Thanks Ali!!

Permission to CREATE,
By
This review is from: Life Artist (Paperback)
This book is a great break from step-by-step guides. Ali lights a spark within us, shows us how she creates, and gives us permission to do it our way. I love the freedom coming to the scrapbooking community and the amazing layouts created with an open mind.

One of my favorite books about being creative,

The whole time I was reading this, I felt very inspired and excited to create new types of scrapbooking pages and other projects. At the same time, the approach of the book is very relaxed, non-pressuring, and accepting. It focuses on helping you feel ok about your own style and your own imperfections. I liked the emphasis on scrapbooking every-day memories, journalling to tell your stories, and focusing on the story you want to tell in each lay-out. Since most of my scrapbooking is for my daughter who has special needs, I particularly related to the scrapbooking that the author does for or about her son, and I loved the adorable photos of her little boy and the funny stories about him.

Love Ali Edwards!,
This review is from: Life Artist (Paperback)
This is not so much a how to scrapbook type book. But Ali Edwards totally is an inspiration to me! This book has changed how I approach scrapbooking, it's not always about the big events in our lives because there are so many important moments in between that we forget to add in our albums.

LOVE this book -- it is now one of the top 10 most inspirational creative books I own. It will inspire anyone, not just scrapbookers, to rethink, admire and simply enjoy life, enjoy putting into words and photos some of the meaningful moments of your life in any manner that makes you happy. It is OK ;-)
