From the Author
One crisp winter morning several years ago I was out walking with Katie, a 51 year-old friend. A little embarrassed, she confided, "I dread getting older. I see so many people getting narrow and negative, bored and boring." Her words stunned me. This dynamic, attractive woman with bubbling enthusiasm had everything going for her--challenging work, good friends, a loving family--and she fears getting older? It was then I realized this book had to be written. For 17 years I had been studying exceptionally vital, dynamic, ever-growing midlife men and women. I discovered they shared a unique set of habitstechniques and attitudes that can be adopted by all of us. Yet until then I'd reported these findings only in academic journals and magazines. It was time to write a book, to share this information with everyone. It was time to remind this youth-oriented society that our mature years are destined to be the time to blossom, the time to become our very best, to become the special person each of us was meant to be. This small book with rich messages takes you by the hand and guides you along that path. Your best is yet to be.
