5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and Realistic
"Life is An Attitude" touched me in a special way that other motivational books have not. As a gal in her 30's and wanting more out of life, I felt many of the messages within spoke directly to me and every day situations I've experienced. This book is rich with reality - of realistic situations of real families, of real people and with real problems...

3.0 out of 5 stars It's All Quite Familiar.......
Take a dash of SARK, mix in some Simple Abundance and Short Guide To A Happy Life, add a splash of other self-help works filled with platitudes and you have "Life Is An Attitude." It is a positive book, don't get me wrong, but as I read through it, I thought time and time again, that I had read similar words before. It would make a great gift to a friend needing...

"Life is An Attitude" touched me in a special way that other motivational books have not. As a gal in her 30's and wanting more out of life, I felt many of the messages within spoke directly to me and every day situations I've experienced. This book is rich with reality - of realistic situations of real families, of real people and with real problems... living in the 21st century and who by making very tiny changes in their daily life - made huge differences in their outlook on life. The little exercises concluding chapters helped me focus and discover how to make little changes in my daily routines. I'm not talking about losing 5 pounds - I'm talking about waking up in the morning and smiling. That is simple. That is "mindfulness". That is what this BIG little book is about! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars This is real..., February 23, 2000
By
I am sixty-two and still growing. I have experienced 37 years of corporate life. I managed to survive in spite of changes in responsibility and some of my bosses. At times I didn't think it would be worth it. I had wonderful mentors and mavens to help me along the way. When I became responsible for others I had to learn the values presented in this book.

You have done a wonderful thing. It was very strange to find sections that had been life changing for me. I also found thoughts that had nearly consumed me for many years. You have all of this in print...I wonder about my life and what would have been had I found this book at several points along the way.

This is a wonderful gift for my children and grandchildren.

Thank you

5.0 out of 5 stars Life is an Attitude, you bet!!, January 4, 2001

Of all the self-help, inspirational books I've read, this is the best. Ms. Billington is concise, direct and to the point. It is a bedside must. I have given at least 2 dozen to friends with great responses. It is Simple Abundance, condensed. Ms. Billington writes in an easy understandable but thought provoking manner. She tells it like it is, like Phil McGraw on the Oprah Show. Her directness and simplicity are refreshing and I continue to read specific chapters again and again. I hope there will be another book in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars You've Gotta Be "Juicy"!, July 13, 2000
By
Dr. Dottie Billington has really hit on a need in todays society. We sometimes have just not given ourselves the self-directed attention needed to achieve our true potential happiness and love for those closest to us.

I tried a number of the exercises in her book and they are full of "AHAs" which affect the way I wish to live my life. A must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars fantasic for personal growth, May 13, 2000
Dottie Billington's book is delightful and thought-provoking. It will cause you to think about your own life and your "attitude" about it. In addition, you'll want to buy copies for family and friends, so you can talk about it together! It would make a truly wonderful birthday or holiday gift. Life is an attitude. Yes, indeed. Dottie Billington helps us see how important a positive one is. I especially enjoyed two chapters. The first is called "Ya Gotta Be Juicy!" which is a terrific enough title in and of itself. It's about savoring, relishing, devoring life. Another chapter is about giving back, and how "we can't seriously help another without helping ourselves."

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best book I have ever read!, April 10, 2000
By
This is the best book I have ever read. It gives me a lot of inspirations and practical advices on how to live positively and happily. Moreover, it is very easy and enjoyable to read as it does not contain very difficult vocabularies or phrases that waste my time on digging a dictionary. I have already read it twice but I still go back to the book for advices and encouragments for solving life problems. As a non-native English speaker, this book has another crucial usefulness for me as I have learned a lot of good English expressions from it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Change your attitude so you can change your life, December 6, 2002
This review is from: Life is an Attitude: How to Grow Forever Better (Paperback)
We can't always control what happens to us, but we can control how we react to what happens to us. How things affect us is based on our attitude. This is where the book "Life is an Attitude" comes into play. The bottom line is that you determine what kind of life you have and what kind of life you will have by your attitude. Even when your life seems out of control, you are still in control of yourself and your attitude. Of course that is easy enough to say, but we all have baggage in our lives and sometimes keeping the correct attitude is not easy.

Each of the 46 chapters of "Life is an Attitude" focuses on one specific aspect of a person's overall attitude. At the end of each chapter are exercises and suggestions on how to incorporate that aspect into your life. And if that is not enough, the book contains multiple very appropriate thought provoking quotes. As you work through the book you learn that you are in control of your life and how to keep in control and happy. Although several parts of the book show that it was written for an adult audience (maybe late thirties or older) it is still a recommended read for anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life Is An Attitude, December 29, 2000
By
Dee Dice or Dorothy A. Dice (Breckenridge,, CO United States) - See all my reviews
'Life Is An Attitude' is profound in its simplicity. The use of quotes from various sources are right on the mark; the importance of a positive attitude is proved again and again; the stories of various people are concise and precise examples of how one CAN be; and finally, Ms. Billington helps one change her/his thinking pattern to aid in the ultimate goal of contentment and self-acceptance in a successful and good life. It is one of the best self-help books I have read (and I've read alot of them for various reasons); one can pick it up, read a little, absorb, and nothing is lost if it's awhile before it is picked up again. Thank you, Dottie Billington! I do so hope there's another book in the works.
