Don't listen to the other reviewer putting this book down!,

This review is from: Life Before Birth: A Christian Family Book: A Book for Christian Families and Others Who Teach the Dignity of Life Before Birth (Hardcover)
Hi- I am a Mom of three children and I picked up this book at a baby consignment store because I thought it covered a good subject---babies. I was trying to figure out how to explain to my girls (when my son was in my tummy) what a baby looks like and how one is formed. Hence, this book came in and explained a lot of things! I gave it four stars because there was a lot of talk, especially questions that seemed too advanced for younger children to understand. My girls were simply happy to look at the pictures. I also have "A child is born" by Lennart Nilsson which I thought is a great supplement to this book.As for the other reviewer putting down "religious views" of this book. This reviewer is wrong. We as Christians embrace murderers, thieves, and other sinners because we love them as humans and are aware sin is just ruling their lives and most of them don't know any better or truly understand the Gospel of Christ. The religious extremists (who brag they are Christians) that are mean and pick on abortionists, doctors, thieves, etc. and others are NOT saved themselves! How can you show the love of Christ if you act ill mannered towards others? Our goals as Christians is to show love towards others so others may learn about the love of Christ. Anyway, enjoy this book with your children! I haven't found any other like this on the market. Just be careful because it is very wordy for young children but you can simplify it for them. It is fine for 10-13 year olds as is. God Bless! Julie Ann

Easy-to-read style; presents a lot of information and answers a lot of questions. Great artwork. Very age-appropriate and does not invade child's innocense.

This is the best book on this subject I've ever seen. It was a wonderful tool that we used to explain the "birds and the bees" to our 10-year-old. She loved it and never felt uncomfortable. We took our time and worked at her pace. It's great to have resource that respects the morals and attitudes of those of us with Judeo-Christian world views.

We bought this book on a friend's recommendation. I found the style to be somewhat outdated. I read through it with my 8 year old daughter who has been very interested in babies since our newest son was born last year. This book teaches from a Christian perspective how the growth and development of a baby in utero shows the hand of God and defies evolution. It also teaches about the value of all human life from conception, including babies with defects and disorders. The book covers abortion from a pro-life perspective and in a way that will not traumatize your young child. Sex is introduced at the end of the book and does not go into any more detail than saying that the man and woman "become one" and that this "oneness" is reserved for marriage. It's a very gentle approach for children just beginning to question. It will also arm parents with good answers for tough questions about evolution versus creation. I highly recommend the book, although your kids may not be interested in the whole thing. We took it in parts and it was a great way to break the ice so they could ask questions and discuss with us.

by Dr. Gary and Mary ParkerDr. Parker and his wife, Mary, explain the Biblical view of life before birth. Such topics such as abortion and birth defects are covered in a special way. illustrated byJonathan Chong and Lloyd R. Hight Life Before Birth is a beautiful family conversation '. Chapter One "Knit Together" "Did you ever wonder where babies come from, or what you looked like while you were growing inside your mother?...The Bible tells us that each of us started as a plan in the mind of God. The tools of biology let us see how God knit us together inside our mothers." p. 6 Chapter Two "No Useless Leftovers" discusses the Bible, biology, and evolution. "...the best summary is still there in Psalm 139. God planned my life before I was born. Then He took my unformed substance - my first cell - and knit me together...Like each and every other person, I am fearfully and wonderfully made."p. 47 Chapter Three "Planned by God" addresses difficult topics such as birth defects, abortion, etc from a Biblical world view in a way children can understand. "maybe before any mother can have an abortion, she should see pictures of what her baby looks like. She should be told how the baby is already swimming and kicking and even thumb-sucking..." p.60 Chapter Four "Beginning at the beginning" the WHOLE story '...including the effects of sin and God's plan of salvation. "God's building plan for us begins to take shape when egg and sperm make our first cell. His plan continues as we are born and grow up. But God's plan for us is not fully complete until we are reborn with perfect bodies in heaven!...being born is wonderful. But being BORN AGAIN into God's eternal family is even more wonderful!" p. 83 I recommend this book. It will be an adventurous and valuable read with your children, grandchildren. I think you will find it to be a helpful resource (as well as one that will stir up new questions). '

All this book talks about is how abortion is bad because it's written by one of the christian zealots. They embrace murderers, rapists, yet if a woman poses in Playboy or a doctor performs a LEGAL abortion and is only doing his job he/she is condemned to hell. These people are just as bad as all the extremist of the world
