Go for it,

This book is a challenge, and you should go for it.I might best describe myself religiously as an atheist who believes in the power of prayer. That seems to change monthly. Larry Meredith's book is challenging to your thoughts and senses, and may be challenging for some people to understand. But that's part of the journey he takes you on, and even if you have to read each paragraph 3 times before moving on like I did, it is worth it. His sly humor keeps the reader engaged while he covers broad subjects from a totally unheard of perspective. Times are really rough for me right now, so I'm ordering another copy as I keep giving them to my friends. If you're on the fence about buying this book, I suggest giving it a chance, the reward far outweighs the risk. (What risk?) It's not for everyone, but for those he speaks to, it is very affirming.

I rate this as a very good book. I had to decide it was a good book, it made me think, it confused me, I found it a difficult read, yet it has made me think for days about the author's points and isn't that the mark of a good book? Dr. Meredith is obviously a much traveled, experienced scholar of religion. He is what he claims to be, a maverick from Texas.
While it did not provide me with profound insight, it did help me coalesce some thoughts I've been having for some time, and made for a stimulating conversation with God. He listens, I talk, he's a good listener. I never thought Sisyphus happy. Dr. Meredith proffers that perhaps he is, and after much thought I see his point, and agree with it. Sisyphus has a task, woe be to those without a task in life. If you think of Sisyphus' life as boring, your thought pattern is too narrow. Dr. Meredith helped expand that pattern. I have always felt love, passion and eroticism are all bound up in life, and make life worth living. I have approached life with passion. Perhaps I haven't stood and watched a religious sect pay homage to its spiritual nature, but I've walked a snow covered forest in the dead of night and beheld the magic of moonlight dancing on the drifts while a small stream bubbled under my feet. It is all relative. I've feel that God is always present. We are not embedded in God, God is embedded in us. You don't have to go to church to find God, all you have to do is look about you, everywhere. The path I tread up the mountain Dr. Meredith recounts at the end of the book is mine, no one else sees the view the same, no one else travels at the same pace, each path is unique and I understand that. This is what makes Dr. Meredith's book a good book. It doesn't lead you anyplace, but makes you aware of what is.
