There is no disputing Michael Newton's expertise in the area of spiritual regression. All of his books have proved to be invaluable additions to the growing body of literature on the subject--this book among the rest. I do, however, think some caveats regarding Life Between Lives are in order.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Book By Dr. Newton, July 7, 2004
This review is from: Life Between Lives: Hypnotherapy for Spiritual Regression (Paperback)
Dr. Michael Newton has written another fascinating book about Life Between Life therapy (LBL) that I recommend for both therapists and non therapists. In this book, Dr. Newton discusses the technique for helping clients access the spiritual world that we inhabit between lives. Reading this book made me want to visit a LBL practitioner for my own LBL therapy. There are many cases studies and examples that I found intriguing and several sections I read more than once. I highly recommend this hard to find book to anyone interested in the life of our souls.

5.0 out of 5 stars A roadmap for healing, July 24, 2005
This review is from: Life Between Lives: Hypnotherapy for Spiritual Regression (Paperback)
This book is a wonderful follow up to Michael Newton's other work and is a must read for any hypnotherapist currently working in the past life regression field. It offers clear guidelines and supports these with case studies that are filled with relevant detail. As a hypnotherapist myself this has filled me with renewed passion and dedication to explore this field further. As we work to raise our consciousness, to heal, to fill our lives with love and light, books like this one are roadmaps of insight along our way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read the other two books first, December 25, 2006
This review is from: Life Between Lives: Hypnotherapy for Spiritual Regression (Paperback)
This is more for the faciliator of LBL therapies, which is why they use it in the workshops around the world. The first two books soak you in glorious case studies that will answer your every question about what goes on in the afterlife and why we are here. This book gives the therapist the scripts to use to get the memories flowing during the hypnotic state and several helpful diagrams of how the author interprets various soul scenarios. It was worth buying for the list of Spiritual Principles in the back pages which neatly sum up what Dr Newton has discovered in his thirty or forty odd years doing soul regresssion work. He references a lot to Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls for detail, so better to have read them first.

I do wish, though, he had mentioned more on the machinations of deepening trance states prior to accessing soul memories at the superconscious level. That is left for the workshops (for which I am saving my pennies). He alludes to extensive seaside or forest visualisation in Destiny of Souls, so I am putting it together. Otherwise, there are basically verbatim scripts to use throughout to access the memories of the between lives state.

As I said before, more of a text for the interested therapist. Must read Journey and Destiny first.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Course Textbook, April 9, 2010

This review is from: Life Between Lives: Hypnotherapy for Spiritual Regression (Paperback)
There is no disputing Michael Newton's expertise in the area of spiritual regression. All of his books have proved to be invaluable additions to the growing body of literature on the subject--this book among the rest. I do, however, think some caveats regarding Life Between Lives are in order.

First of all, this book is not aimed at the general reader. Although it promises "new case material," there are only about four or five pages of new material. As stated in the Introduction, it is specifically intended for "experienced hypnotherapy professionals"--and, I might add, not just any experienced hypnotherapy professional, but particularly those familiar with past-life regression and possessed of a firm grasp of spirituality.

What experienced hypnotherapists might expect from a book written expressly for them is more specific guidance on how to navigate through the Life Between Lives (LBL) realm. It does provide guidance--the text is a remarkable outline of the different stations on the journey through the afterlife--but that guidance is often very sketchy. Do not expect to find a database of scripts providing detailed instructions on what to say to a client during a spiritual regression. Even a transcript of a complete series of sessions would be remarkably helpful in painting a picture of how LBL regressions should work. The book is more of a flow chart of possible pathways through the LBL realm, containing many good questions to help therapy clients expand their awareness of the afterlife and explore it thoroughly, but nevertheless leaving the reader with a vague sense of what a complete session should look like.

On its own, the book is not going to provide professional hypnotherapists with enough information to become spiritual regressionists, but I don't think the book ever had such a purpose. It seems to be more of a textbook to be used in conjunction with Newton's LBL Hypnotherapy Training workshops, for which all of Michael Newton's books are required reading. Considering how often the reader is obliquely addressed as an "LBL therapist," I think a strong case can be made that it was written with such a purpose in mind. Certainly, the LBL workshops might provide more of the nitty-gritty details that would breathe more life and vitality into this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Balanced View, November 9, 2006
This review is from: Life Between Lives: Hypnotherapy for Spiritual Regression (Paperback)
Having read widely and for many years on the subject of multiple lives, I was pleasantly astonished to find Dr. Newton's book that addressed the time between lives. And the surprises continued as I read his works. Almost every other author I have encountered on this subject has an axe of some sort to grind, or a religious viewpoint to prove or disprove; Dr. Newton is exactly the opposite of these authors. He espouses no religious view -- and, indeed, rejects any limitations on his research that a religious viewpopint would inevitably impose -- and has nothing to prove to anyone; he simply puts his research results out there for the reader to accept or not, their choice. His books, including the one for which I write this review, are worth the time to read them, if for no other reason than to see that there is an eternal, spiritual universe out there far beyond the reach of any limiting religious dogma. I recommend highly all of his works.

This is yet another excellent read by Dr. Michael Newton on past life and life between life regression. It is more a technical/reference manual for his particular form of hypnotherapy and how/why he developed the format he uses today. As I'm currently preparing to get my hypnotherapy certification I found his book extraordinarily useful and look forward to applying his techniques in my own practice.

After I read this book, I found someone in my state trained by Mr. Newton and went through the regression myself. It was very spiritually enlightening and I got a lot out of it.

I believe that what he is saying is true. This book is mainly aimed at practitioners who would like to use this method of deep hypnotic life-between-lives regression, however those of us who are very interested in the topic will want to read it.

5 stars. This book is wonderfully written and brings to the table the author's vast, pioneering research and experience in this emerging field.

This book is best suited for those in the psychology field. It contains too much detail on how and when to perform regression techniques. It was informative for those professionals looking to work in this area of expertise, but not really a great buy for the average reader.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Professional Hypnotherapists, May 13, 2010

This review is from: Life Between Lives: Hypnotherapy for Spiritual Regression (Paperback)
While this book might not appeal to the general public like Michael Newton's other two books, Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls, I found it most helpful. Being a hypnotherapist, Newton has laid out exactly how he does his Life Between Life hypnosis work. This book is more of a guide to those in the business yet it still might interest those who have read his other two books and can't get enough of Newton's work.

There is still enough of the actual regressions that I found interesting even before I started my course of hypnotherapy, though I will now reread the book as a guide to help my own clients one day. It's too bad that Newton has retired since his work is so ground-breaking on the subject of Life after Death.

What's significant about Newton's work, is that he lays out what's important in our lives here on Earth. We have a plan, if you will, and are given the means to fulfill that plan. We want to grow as souls, so we use Earth and the amnesia we experience here to test whether the lessons we learn in 'heaven' have really taken. If everyone could realize that Earth is just a testing ground, not a means to an end, we would truly all do the right thing and obtain 'heaven on Earth'.

But then again, we can't know for sure unless we have our own Near Death Experience which is not recommended, so we have to have faith and preserver listening to that 'still small voice' and hope to get most of it right.
