5.0 out of 5 stars What a CD!
Okay, right from the start I'll tell you that I am 52 years old. Love classic rock. Mainly 70's and 80's. About a year ago my sons had me listen to After the Chaos II and I was blown away. Who would have thought that Salt Lake could produce such a great sound. And the back story of these guys has enough story and plot lines to make a great movie. So when I heard RB was...

2.0 out of 5 stars Talk about whimpy rock...
I bought this cd on a recommentation and thought it had rock potential on the amazon music preview. I tried to jam it and was very disappointed. This ain't rock or metal, but new school , whimpy chic rock that these posers are putting out these days. Stick with the 70's through 90's hard rock / metal. Sorry guys, i sold it for a $1 the next day at local cd store.

Who would have thought that Salt Lake could produce such a great sound. And the back story of these guys has enough story and plot lines to make a great movie. So when I heard RB was releasing the new cd, well no brainer, a must buy. And wow! This is the best album I have heard in a long time. The ballads are great and the rockers are just explosive. My favorite is 'Pocket of Dreams'. And if it isn't already I'm sure 'I was Drunk' will be the anthem for every frat house in the country. Royal Bliss is worth the time. You won't be dissapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing, January 15, 2009
This review is from: Life in Between (Audio CD)
Have you ever had a friend recommend a movie to you and describe the movie as the best movie he/she has ever seen, after watching the movie you leave extremely disappointed and with no faith in your friend's judgement? Well, this is not one of those times. I saw Royal Bliss in concert all the way back in October at Liquid Joe's in Salt Lake and was blown away. That evening they announced the release date for their new album titled Life In-Between. From that night 3 months ago I counted down the days to the release. From my experience it was the perfect set up for a huge disappointment. (I also counted down the days to Metallica's St. Anger and Alice Cooper's Along Came a Spider, both of which were garbage.) Needless to say, the day Life In-Between came out I bought it. Being completely honest the album has not left my CD player. I even burned a copy to listen to in my work truck. There is no filler on this CD and every song could very well be a single. If the first 3 songs don't knock your teeth in with a right hook of awesome-ness, you probably listen to Michael Bolton and don't appreciate loud, in your face rock n roll. Happy listening.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Awesome Album!, January 16, 2009
This review is from: Life in Between (Audio CD)
Royal Bliss is an amazing band and this album will send them into stardom! Every song shows a depth in song writing and musicianship, and Middleton's vocals are absolutely awesome. The guitar playing is exceptional, and Jake Smith makes an impressive statement on the drums. The songs on this cd are amazing. From song to song, there is something for everyone on this album. Meaningful lyrics with great hooks, sung with passion. This is a must have album for those who enjoy being moved to the core by sensational rock n' roll!

2.0 out of 5 stars Royal Bliss are a good band, but come off sounding a bit generic, September 3, 2009
This review is from: Life in Between (Audio CD)
The Good
"Save Me" is a melodic tale of desperation with quite the catchy chorus. "Here They Come" employs a chugga-chugga guitar riff with a hypnotic guitar run. Vocalist Neal Middleton is powerful and charasmic. "Pocket of Dreams" kick the instruments to the background to focus on the vocals and lyrics. "We Did Nothing Wrong" has an anthemic groove to it. "I Don't Mind" is an acoustic ballad with a soft string section that adds more emotion and texture.

The Bad
The songs are crafted well, but there is just nothing exciting or worth-while to speak of in the end.

The Verdict
Royal Bliss are a good band, but come off sounding a bit generic. If there's a formula for radio-friendly modern rock, Royal Bliss followed it to a tee. I just wish they'd make it interesting.
