5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have, April 18, 2007
This review is from: The Get A Life Campaign (Paperback)
This book really changed my way of thinking. As a mother of a 5 month old, I didn't even recognize that I was in a rut. While I was reading I had so many AHA moments, realizations that I was missing out on so much by only focusing on being a mother. Now, me and my girlfriends are GAL's. We are all getting a life and I am so much happier and more fulfilled. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for the motivation and some simple ways to start "living for you" again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Life is What You Make It, August 3, 2007

This review is from: The Get A Life Campaign (Paperback)
Almost everyone experiences times in their lives where they feel as if they are stuck in a rut and life isn't quite the way they want it to be. In THE GET A LIFE CAMPAIGN, author Tyeese Gaines Reid offers tools to help women recapture or achieve a richer, fuller life. She begins by identifying some of the roadblocks, such as lack of time and financial constraints that keep women from making the most of their lives. Next she begins to offer constructive suggestions about how to keep each of the roadblocks from impeding happiness. To do lists, schedules, and suggestions for healthy snacks, are among the practical tools provided in the book. In addition, the author provides exercises that assist the reader in identifying ways they waste time and establishing goals based on personal strengths and weaknesses. There are also suggestions on how readers can stretch their budget, develop a more active social life, and relax more.

Although much of the material in the book is common-sense and there isn't any groundbreaking approach to living a better life unveiled, THE GET A LIFE CAMPAIGN is an inspiring book. The author deconstructs many of the excuses we give ourselves for not having the life we want, and then offers worksheets, tools, and advice on how to actively pursue happiness.

5.0 out of 5 stars It fits in my bag...it fits in my life, May 17, 2007
By
This review is from: The Get A Life Campaign (Paperback)
Ok, so I just finished reading this book, and decided to come on here and give a review, in case someone was considering it and wondering if it is worth it....it is. First, its an easy read, I stuck it in my bag and read it on the way to work on the bus, took two days (going and coming). I have a 4 month old and time is precious. I found myself slipping, my clothes no longer fit, I'm not sure what the next step of my career should be, and everything I said I'd like to do by the time I was thirty, seemed impossible to complete. I figured the person who wrote this book, is a doctor, a mom, a wife and a writer, she MUST have some good advice on juggling our lives. Theres 1 section in this book that has a good hands on way to do some introspection and planning on getting or re-claiming our lives.

4.0 out of 5 stars Even men will enjoy this book!!!!, April 23, 2007
This review is from: The Get A Life Campaign (Paperback)
I read the book and found it extremely enlightening. Tyese touched on several topics that many women should address and if nothing else just take control of their own life. It's important for men to also read this book because in alot of instances your girlfriend, wife, sister or even mother may be too busy themselves to take a look in the mirror and realize they're not particurlarly happy within their own lives. I wasn't even half way through this book before I made a laundry list of female friends who I wanted to read this book. All good women who just need a little nudge or something to spark a fire under them. Well this book is just that spark that they need and needless to say they all will be receiving a copy of this as a gift from me.

Tyese is a mother, wife, doctor, part of a national organization and now an author. Tyese gives "I am every woman" an entirely new meaning. In addition to motivating women, this book has motivated me. Reading this book has let me know, if I want to achieve anything in life, it doesn't help sitting back and waiting for it to happen, I have to get out there and take control of my life. As a result, I'm part of "Get A Life Campaign" as well!

I think the book was inspiring and convinces you to want to do something
with yourself even when you're just too overwhelmed to think about it. The book is an easy read that can be read while drinking a cup of coffee or taking a hot bubble bath. Tyeese does a great job at awakening your desire to get to know yourself again and put everyting else on hold.
