More About the Author

Born in Kansas City, Sandra Gore Nielsen is a baby boomer who escaped the Prairie on a one way ticket to Iceland while her friends were partying at college. She returned to the United States after twenty-five years in Europe, Africa, Central America and the Middle East, with a Danish husband, an art degree and speaking five languages.

Next came family, business and politics. Sandra and her husband Jesper raised a daughter and son in a beach house in California, starting up and managing a successful scientific company. Sandra was a political activist and environmentalist and served as a School Board Trustee and a Planning Commissioner.

Her writing era began in Las Vegas with the creation of www.sandraoffthestrip.com, a magazine blog dedicated to the adventures of an eclectic mind.

"Sex and the Zen of Shopping or How to Shop Smart in a Dumb Economy" is her first self-help, how to manual. Sandra is a contributing author with her romantic real life fairy tale "A True Love Story" to the anthology "Life Choices - Navigating Difficult Paths" released by Turning Point International in January 2010.

Sandra is also compiling a full menu cookbook of her own recipes as well as the best from talented friends around the globe. She has started work on her next book, a memoir of her travel adventures, including a six month hitchhike journey across the Sahara.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hope through the right choices, March 25, 2010
By
This review is from: Life Choices: Navigating Difficult Paths (Paperback)
You'll read about eleven different areas in our lives where we all have to make choices, such as, Family, Independence, Love, Empowerment, and Challenges. A smart person always learns from those who have gone before. They pay close attention and evaluate how the choices of others turn out. Then they carefully shape their own choices to avoid the tragedy and failures of others.

That, in a nut shell, is what I found to be the message in LIFE CHOICES. And who wouldn't want to avoid a few obstacles along life's path. The authors who share their stories are people just like you and I. Some are educators, artists, performers, speakers, athletes, and political consultants. A disparate group whose combined experiences show the power of not giving up, and the rewards of persistence and dedication to a goal or choice.

This book was well-worth my time. Twenty-six short stories, concise yet compelling, of honesty and inspiration. An excellent reminder of the "power of choice".
