5.0 out of 5 stars Knowing Jesus
John Stott's "Life in Christ" is one of the best books I have ever read on the Christian's relationship to Jesus Christ. Basically, the author takes prepostitional phrases in the New Testament ("in Christ", "through Christ") and explores how they describe our relationship with the Lord. I don't know about you, but I tend to skip over those little prepositional phrases...

5.0 out of 5 stars Knowing Jesus, June 14, 2006
This review is from: Life in Christ: A Guide for Daily Living (Paperback)
John Stott's "Life in Christ" is one of the best books I have ever read on the Christian's relationship to Jesus Christ. Basically, the author takes prepostitional phrases in the New Testament ("in Christ", "through Christ") and explores how they describe our relationship with the Lord. I don't know about you, but I tend to skip over those little prepositional phrases without thinking about them. I can't believe what I have missed! This book opened my eyes to amazing things about Jesus Christ. The subtitle of "Life in Christ" is "A Guide for Daily Living", which could be misleading for some people. Mr. Stott didn't write a how-to book or a self-help book listing daily activities that Christians should do (let's face it, there are enough of those out there already!). Instead, this book tells us WHY we should live the Christian life - because we are involved in a meaningful, personal relationship with Christ, our life. When we know how to relate to our Lord and Savior, the little details seem to take care of themselves. "Life in Christ" is about 180 pages, so it isn't some dense theological tome, but I urge you to spend as much time as possible with these amazing truths about our life in Jesus Christ. Highly recommended!

This review is from: Life in Christ: A Guide for Daily Living (Paperback)
This is an excellent book which explains very clearly about who Christ is and when we choose to accept the FACT of who he is, who we become in him. I would recommend this book for people who have just come to Christ and others who have walked with him for awhile. I've really enjoyed it!

*** Now that you have become a Christian, how do you live? This is a question that has troubled many people and spawned a libraries' worth of books. If you don't have time to read all of those, then John Stott will be an answer to your prayers. His dealings with the topic are concise and to the point. By turning our focus to Who we should be modeling our lives after and submitting ourselves to, namely, Jesus, he explains how we are to relate to Christ. The next logical step is how will naturally lead to a proper relationship with the other aspects and people of daily life. While many Christian books might only be practical psychology with Christ thrown in, this book keeps the focus on Christ, and the rest is secondary. ***
