Motivational,
This review is from: The Life Coaching Handbook (Paperback)
Using her emotional intelligence the author has written a book which clearly and simply describes what the applications are, of various NLP models in the life coaching context and what life coaching is, how to set up a practice, some guidelines of conduct for a life coach, etc. And the book includes the index and the biography, essential from a serious readers point of view. You would be a fool to consider a 250-page book will give you all the answers, and that just reading a book would make you a life coach - practical experience is essential. However, this book is easy to read and apply and will be a big step on the learning ladder of life coaching. I found it an inspiring and motivational book which gave me the confidence to consider life coaching as a career. Rather than the often stuffy self absorbed books which give the reader a feeling of inadequacy. I highly recommend this book if you are just starting out or doing research into life coaching.

Inspiring and easy to use,
This review is from: The Life Coaching Handbook (Paperback)
This is my first review. I just had to tell you how this book has helped me in my personal life and also as a trainee life coach. The techniques are easy to follow and to implement into everyday life and what is really great, I can help my clients with techniques I have used on myself. The book is a pleasure to read, understand and interpret and also, it has been an invaluable learning tool and reference manual.Curly Martin has captured the essence of life coaching in an inspiring and clear way. It knocks the socks off some of the theoretical tombs which pontificate about coaching but do not inspire people to become coaches. You immediately know when reading this book that Martin is a practicing life coach and she shares her knowledge and experiences freely. The best coaching book I have bought and I recommend this book to life coaches and people who want to help themselves to achieve results and to achieve their goals.

a handbook indeed!,

This review is from: The Life Coaching Handbook (Paperback)
The problem with many people that take NLP courses is that they have difficulty later on to figure out how to apply what they learned. This author has put her emotional intelligence into practice, by writing a book which contains what an NLP practitioner would need to start as life coach (or why a life coach would want to follow NLP). Probably the author would be the first to acknowledge there is more to life coaching than NLP. Not only does the book describe what the applications are of various NLP models in the life coaching context (in terms of communication skills, rapport skills, etc), it also describes what life coaching is, how to set up a practice, what rules of conduct are for a life coach, etc. And the book includes the index and the biography, which I consider essential. It's clear that a 200-page book doesn't give all the answers, as it is clear that just reading a book won't make you a life coach. But this book certainly is a good step on the way. If you want to apply certain sections of the book in more detail, I recommend that you buy other books the author makes reference to, such as Shelle Rose Charvet's "Words that Change Minds", if you want to coach meta-programs or "Spiral Dynamics" by Don Beck a Chris Cowan if you want to use the spiral coaching model. Given that metaprograms and spiral dynamics are building blocks used in jobEQ.com's Work attitude and Motivation and Value Systems Questionnaires, readers that know me won't be surprised that I think the author made an excellent choice of models by focusing on these models... Final conclusion: a necessary resource if you want to be a good life coach! Patrick E.C. Merlevede - co-author of "7 Steps to Emotional Intelligence"

This review is from: The Life Coaching Handbook (Paperback)
The Life Coaching Handbook is an essential part of my coaching library. It is so refreshing to finally read a book that is written from a practical standpoint. Curly takes you beyond the theory of Life Coaching and gives you a totally practical blue print to kick start your coaching business. The integration of practical marketing strategies and the benefit of the authors own experience make this a compelling read. Curly Martin has written a first class book about a very rewarding profression. The author is passionate about coaching and her own experience shines through.

This is an outstanding book and exceptional value for money. It is full of practical information, models and methodologies for life coaches. The author takes the reader through step by step what is involved in building and growing a life coaching practice. There is not the usual padding of books of this nature and it is a reference guide for new or practicing life coaches. It is quite clear that the author knows her stuff and her examples are easy to follow. She comes across as sincere, trustworthy and passionate about life coaching. A great book.

First Class !,
This review is from: The Life Coaching Handbook (Paperback)
After reading a few books, I was lucky enough to have this one recommended to me by a Performance Coach. I am so pleased that I got it, as I found it was to the point and clearly outlines what to do without and of the usual fluff. The second part of the book is filled with useful NLP techniques which can be used in a coaching environment. I would score this book 10 out of 10 and Ilook forward to seeing more from Curly Martin.

Top of my list,
This review is from: The Life Coaching Handbook (Paperback)
It is no wonder this book comes to the top of the most popular life coaching books. It is fabulous and a must read for coaches and trainee coaches. Curly Martin has captured the essence of life coaching in an easy to read and straightforward to apply way. I highly recommend this book, it is inspiring, enlightening and a pleasure to read. Martin offers technique after technique combining the skills of Neuro Linguistic Programming and coaching in an effective and clear manner. She covers how to set up a coaching practice, how to promote your practice by marketing and referrals, there are graceful models to follow which are really flexible and you know that Martin has used them herself. If you are a life coach or thinking of becoming one this is, in my opinion, the best buy. It certainly is top of my coaching book list!

No easy transition to NLP in your coaching...,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Life Coaching Handbook (Paperback)
There is no way this can be considered a "Handbook". It does not begin to compare with O'Neil's Executive Coaching with Backbone and Heart or Auerbach's Personal and Executive Coaching. If you're hoping to discover a way to integrate NLP methods into coaching, you're going to need a lot more than this book. I'm not sure exactly what audience I could recommend this to. There are lots of other coaching titles out there that are readable and enjoyable as well as informative. If you're not already well versed in NLP this one's certainly going to be neither.

This review is from: The Life Coaching Handbook (Paperback)
This book is easy to read and absorb. It may not suit the most academic of readers but for someone looking for a practical way to gain an insight into Life Coaching it is perfect. It gave me a good grounding in the key principles I need to master and a plan to develop my learning. It contains very practical advice about setting up your practice and developing a client base which many other books do not cover. I consider it to be amongst the best books on Life Coaching.
