3.0 out of 5 stars Unproven Assertions
Having had photos of my aura taken, I thought I might learn more about them with this book. In Life Colors, Oslie does not give any evidence that having a certain color of aura will give you a certain type of personality and I think that this is a major flaw in the book. I suppose one could run a experiment by taking a picture of peoples' auras, determining their main...

First, brief descriptions of the Spectrum:

REDS are very basic, straightforward, and hard working. They express themselves primarily through their physical being- their sexuality, the labor they perform etc. They have very little interest in mental challenges or spiritual contemplation. To them, things are as they appear, and thats that.

ORANGES are the thrill-seeking daredevils. They live their life on the edge, constantly seeking out dangerous physical challenges that they can overcome. They see life as something that must be conquered.

MAGNETAS are outrageous and flamboyant. They seek to shock people out of their hum-drum lives. They look at the world from a totally different, altered perspective. They are they kind of people who will walk down the street with a bizarre hairstyle, and in crazy clothing.

YELLOWS are primarily focused on having fun and bring joy to others. They love making friends, being around people, and being free-spirited. They can be similar to the ORANGE, however the ORANGE has no fear of physical pain, and does not mind being a loner- things that a YELLOW could not tolerate.

REDS, ORANGES, MAGNETAS, and YELLOWS describe those that live life primarily through their physical senses.

TANS are primarily focused on structure, logic, reason, and cause-and-effect. MENTAL TANS are very thorough, analytical, and always process information in a sequential manner, step-by-step. ENVIRONMENTAL TANS process information according to how their physical bodies relate to their environments. They need to touch their surroundings so that they can mentally/logically analyze it. SENSITIVE TANS combine the characteristics of mental, analytical logic with loving and intuitive compassion. Its like they are on the verge of taking the jump into the uncertainty of fully trusting their instincts, but arent prepared to let go of the structure that their analytical minds provide. They are very much like a more restrained BLUE. ABSTRACT TANS- think of the nutty professor- very grounded in the logic, structure, and details of life, but very scatter-brained and disorganized typically seen as friendly, however.

A GREENS main priority in life is the acquisition of money and power. They are the movers-and-shakers of the spectrum. They are the executive go-getters; very business-minded. They do well with finances, and are adept at making organizational decisions. They like to delegate responsibilities and/or jobs to others, wholl handle the little details. The GREEN however, wants to be the overseer of the project.

The TANS and GREEN compromise those who experience life primarily through their mental faculties.

BLUES are the nurturers and caregivers of the world. They love helping others, seeing that everyone feels love and acceptance, and is taken care of. They are the most emotional souls on the spectrum, and they go through life following their heart.

VIOLETS are the visionaries of the world. They know that theyve got a cause, and are more than prepared to be on the front lines, ready to fight for it. VIOLETS seek to open peoples eyes to greater possibilities. They want the world to move forward in its humanitarian and spiritual evolvement.

LAVENDARS are the dreamers of the spectrum. In their minds, they are often off in another world- one that is light, pretty, cheerful, and safe. LAVENDARS probably have the most difficult time trying to relate to physical reality, although it is very difficult for the CRYSTAL and INDIGO as well. They really dont want to be here. Life for them should be as fantastic as the one they see in their dreams.

CRYSTALS are the natural healers. The real world is too harsh, cold, and dirty for them, so they tend to be shy and reclusive. Their psyche can be easily fractured by the chaos of the world, so they need to spend an abundance of quiet time alone. Its easy for a CRYSTAL to empathize with everyone, because they tend to take on the feelings and emotions of others. They have healing powers because of their clear channels.

The INDIGOS primary focus is the advancement of their spirituality, and the search for truth. They tend to be detached observers of life, always looking to make connections about the greater meaning of their (and our) existence. They want the world to be enlightened, just like they seek to be, but typically dont have the stamina it takes to dispel ignorance en masse, very much unlike the VIOLET.

BLUES, VIOLETS, LAVENDARS, CRYSTALS, and INDIGOS experience life through their emotions and intuition.

This book does a great job of showing the reader the bigger picture- the structure, and experiential cycles of life. Its made so obviously clear that everyone in our society has their place. And that there is something that we can all learn from every different kind of person.

Everyone has their place, life is no coincidence, and were all dependent on one another.

The REDS and ORANGES have been necessary for the cultivation, and exploration of our world. REDS lay the groundwork for everyone else to build upon. The MAGNETA, VIOLET, and INDIGO challenge us to look beyond the obvious. They help us see things in a different light, and move forward with different ideas. The TANS give is us structure. Often, they are the scientists and creators of technology, giving us the technical means for advancement. GREENS keep our economy going with their headstrong and natural sense for the world of business. YELLOWS remind us that there is more to life than work it can be enjoyed as well. The BLUES and CRYSTALS are our healers. And the LAVENDARS provide us with otherworldly escapes through their work and artistry. They remind us that there is another world out there, just beyond our typical senses.

The section on relationships does a great job showing you the probable degree of compatibility youll have with others.

Lastly, I have found the test to determine the color(s) of your aura in this book to be much more accurate than in What Color is Your Aura (Barbara Bowers). These questions are better thought out, more numerous, and the scoring is much simpler.

Over the years, I have collected a vast library on this and related subject matter. If I were to choose one book that would stand out amongst them, it would be, without doubt, THIS BOOK!
I've found Ms. Oslie's work to be insightful, unpretentious, practical and amazingly accurate. I am certain that anyone working in fields like aromatherapy, especially on the auric level, would find this book to be an invaluable resource.

This book has helped me identify the vital aspects of my life. I no longer deny my weaknesses and traits. I love myself for who am I and accept the differences between myself and others. Finally, I have sense of direction on my career path. This method will prove to you less tedious than numerology. I know feel motivated to continue my independent study of numerology. An advantage of numerology is that you can't cheat which are your traits. When you read the Life Color descriptions, you have to be totally honest with yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brought a lot of insight on myself and my relationship, January 3, 2008

This review is from: Life Colors: What the Colors in Your Aura Reveal (Paperback)
I first stumbled upon Oslie's work online when I was curious about finding out more about my aura color and how it can benefit my life. Everyone kept telling me, "oh, you are definitely a blue" and it sparked my curiosity. Upon taking the test, I found out something wonderful...I have not one, but two life colors! Both Blue and Crystal resonated deep within me and upon reading the information on each one, they described me down to the last detail. As fun as it was to read things that represent huge parts of my personality, there was a bigger help in this book. It also gives you career choices that go with your color(s) and I found myself "clicking" with just about all the Crystal and Blue ones. This will be of the utmost help to me because I just graduated from college and I was searching for the type of job that would suit me and I feel like I finally have more of an idea of where to look. Also, Oslie talks about different things regarding your color like how you probably were as a child, how to parent a child of that color, sex, money, success...all the works. The last part I found extremely helpful is that it tells you about your relationships with other colors. I asked my boyfriend to take the test and found out he's an Environmental Tan. The end of the book told us how our relationship was and it was creepy accurate on our current situation. One of the issues that hit home is that it said that Environmental Tan's usually have jobs that will take them far away for long periods of time. Sure enough, my boyfriend is in the military and he will be going to war soon. My boyfriend is usually very skeptical about these types of books but Oslie even managed to convince a natural skeptic! I absolutely love this book because it has helped me in numerous ways. I reccommend it to anyone who may be curious as to what their color may say about themselves and the people around them.

Also, on a side note, I emailed Oslie about a question I had regarding one of my colors, and she not only returned my email promptly, but was also extremely helpful and sweet. A wonderfully insightful book and a genuinely helpful author are definitely a winning combination in my opinion :).

5.0 out of 5 stars The Path Of Colors, August 7, 2005
This review is from: Life Colors: What the Colors in Your Aura Reveal (Paperback)
I just love this book. It's such an easy to read guide and you don't have to read it in order either. I found it rather therapeutic. I don't mean that it'll help you with all of you're problems. However, this is a really great start trying to get a different look into you're self.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, June 28, 2007
This review is from: Life Colors: What the Colors in Your Aura Reveal (Paperback)
I was profoundly affected by the information in this book. My life is the same but the way I see it is totally different. I finally understand myself. To feel comfortable with oneself and at peace and ease with oneself is exhilerating.

I read the other reviews and found them insightful. I think people get out of a book based on what they are looking for and where they are in their growth and self awareness.

If you are ready to face yourself then this book is for you. If you want scientific and other knowledge about auras there is probably a more thorough book.

I have shared this book with family and friends and many have gasped at the insight they finally had into themselves. Things that were a puzzle, a muddle, a burden, suddenly became clear. Where you decide to go from there is up to you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life Colours, February 8, 2008
This review is from: Life Colors: What the Colors in Your Aura Reveal (Paperback)
An excellent read! I answered the questionnaire in the book and discovered my 'true' colours. Very accurate and a good tool for future reference with regard to my working life. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I can't wait to try the questionnaire with my sister who often says that she sees 'red'! She will be astounded when she discovers her 'true' colours! Then it will be the turn of the rest of my family! I can recommend this book to anyone interested in discovering the type of person they are (they may not be who they think they are!)and what work they are suited to in this life.

5.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THE KINDLE EDITION, December 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a wonderful book, but the Kindle edition does not have a clickable table of contents. If the book is something you're going to read straight through, like a novel, it's fine not to have a clickable table of contents. But for a book like this, where it's all about going back and forth to different sections, reading the ones that apply to you and your friends, it makes absolutely no sense to only be able to get around by flipping one page at a time. Renders the book useless. I asked for my money back on the Kindle version (which they gave), and I ordered the paper version instead.

This is not the first time I've bought a Kindle book and had it be useless for the same reason. Amazon needs to fix this.
