From the Inside Flap

THE SECRET TO LIFE IS KNOWING HOW AND WHY THINGS HAPPEN. THIS BOOK UNVEILS THAT SECRET.

Twenty-three years before the thought of this book even entered my consciousness, I was forewarned of its forthcoming existence. While driving home late one evening, I inadvertently tuned in to a radio station featuring a psychic. Because I had never heard a psychic before, I was intrigued by the accuracy of this man's responses to the intimate questions people posed, so when I arrived home, I, too, placed a call. The psychic answered my question, and then added something that piqued my curiosity: I was going to do something "exciting" later in my life. Upon hearing that statement, the skeptical me wondered, "Okay, is this one of his ‘pat' statements? One that could never be proved as having substance?" I implored him to define that "something" more specifically. His reply? "I would discover its meaning when I was ‘supposed to.'" Hmmm…. The intrigue did not end there, however. This message was merely the first of many strikingly similar messages I would receive over the next ! thirteen years. That is, until I received another with far greater significance that explained that "something."

What precipitated these messages? At the core of my being I have always felt that there had to be more to life — that something was "wrong with this picture." As I observed the world around me, I saw so much pain, anguish, and suffering and always wondered why it occurred in the lives of some and not others. And this despair was not relegated to one socioeconomic class. Quite the contrary, it permeated all levels of society — the "haves" and the "have-nots." The answer eluded me. I continued to ask "why, why, why?"

You have probably heard the phrase "Seek and you will find." Well, my seeking began to produce curious findings. Late one evening a friend of mine called and asked if I would accompany her the following day to an appointment she and another friend had previously made with a psychic. Her scheduled friend had just canceled and she desperately wanted to see this man, but was afraid of going alone. Although I was a bit uncomfortable with the notion of having someone tell me "the future" once again, I conceded when her pleading became unrelenting. "What the heck," I thought, "Life's an adventure! After all, nothing "bad" happened after my first episode with a psychic, right?"

Well, this meeting was indeed an adventure, for in the midst of our session, this man abruptly stopped and announced that he was receiving an urgent message for me from a group of teachers. Hello...?!? I had no idea what he meant and felt that this experience was becoming a bit too weird for my taste. However, my uneasiness was soon dispelled when he implored me to write down what he was receiving before he lost it. The following was the message I received on that fateful day:

"Things only happen when you make them happen. To let go and surrender is to let things happen to you. You have free will and must set things in motion. Planet Earth is on the verge of destructive power in the wrong hands. Things will only change when people change. To raise people's spiritual consciousness is the task at hand. It can only begin there and be demonstrated as such. There is much work to do. Begin by helping others become aware. You have the gift. Use it or it will be wasted. This is your Mission. DMA [Dimensional Mind Approach — a course I was then taking that dealt with the multi-dimensions of the mind] is your first step. Everyone's "universal truth" they espouse is holy unto them. Formulate your own truth, live by it, share it, and teach it. That is your Mission. To blend the psychological awareness of your past with the awareness of the reality of the future is the key. While men are building new and beautiful skyscrapers, energy should be channeled into con! sciousness into this world. They are blind — make them see. Various civilizations that were highly technical, fell. When there is technology without the awareness of God, it cannot work. God is before tech-nology, and channeling the power properly will benefit and evolve mankind. It is time — the time is now for these events to happen. They happen only with individual people. That is the task at hand."

I had no clue what this message meant — it was totally beyond my com-prehension. However, I knew it meant something because of the haunting reference to the DMA course I was enrolled in, so I tucked that little piece of paper safely away. As the years passed, I continued to receive messages, all clues that led to the unraveling of this mystery, until one day I threw my hands up in surrender and uttered "All right, already. I'll do ‘it'!" (I was afraid. I didn't know what "it" was, but I also never wanted to say "I coulda, woulda, shoulda.") The result? This book: my "Mission." Read it, and you may never look at life the same way again.

In sincerity, Lauren

Purporting to unveil the secret behind The Secret this book is a confused mish-mash New Age philosophy and pop psychology.

On the positive side, this book is physically quite attractive. The binder and section dividers feature lovely photographs and I thought the format was promising. The problem, however is in the contents. The author's style is clumsily self-conscious and she doesn't have an original idea.(In all fairness, there is not much new on the Law of Attraction. The trick is in a fresh presentation.) The book is packed with quotations of other people's works and song lyrics. Apparently, the author once ordered one book and another, a book of inspirational quotations, came instead She found this book wonderfully inspirational and each chapter features not just one or two quotes, but sometimes pages of them. Sorry, if I wanted to read Conversations with God I, II and III, The Nature of Personal Reality or any of the others she relies on, I would not have been reading her book. This over reliance on quotes is disruptive and contributes to the careful, term paperish effect.

This book quickly loses focus, jumping wildly from a clunky law of attraction formula to a recitation of the author's traumatic and abusive childhood and journey through different recovery modalities. While I credit her for addressing these challenges, it reads like a bad episode of Dr. Phil. It is somewhat troubling that she disparages the classic twelve step method as it does not fit within the precepts of her message.

The author refers to her higher self as "Angel". If you subscribe to the traditional definition of angels as being messengers of God, you will find his usage jarring.

It is inspirational and motivating it has helped me to access my best life.I have been to many different types of motivational seminars including Tony Robbins and I have found this book to be the key that unlocked the blocks that were preventing me from living my best life. I am a Metaphysician and an avid Law of Attraction (LOA) worker. One of my favorite things to do is continuously reveal to myself *evidence* of how Great Things Really Are. Lauren's book is an SPARKLING JEWEL! I totally adore how she has collected quotes & passages from throughout the ages from a huge assortment of Wise Voices and I definitely appreciate her research format of actually citing her sources (so often missing or incomplete in others' works). Her material is accurate, timely, and perfectly applicable - especially so in our current world situation. Read this book and drink from the Well of Wellbeingness. Your soul will thank you, your heart will rejoice, and your mind will have something very tangible to work with. The best part? You'll discover that your Sacred Imagination is finally free to do its thing: Make YOUR Personal Universe/Reality Delicously FUN! This is THE BOOK to savor for Deliberate Creators Everywhere :) I cannot say enough Good Things about this wonderful work. Lauren, you've made Life Easier and that's Really Fantastic!

I was out with some friends playing "The Perfect1864" Game at a very nice bar we all meet at weekly. The question was posed "So what perfect book have you read lately" My friend said she just finished Life:A Complete Operating Manual. She really wanted me to read it but lent hers to someone already so I purchased it. I loved it. Lots of great suggestions and direction on life. The title does really explain much to clear up who you really are and how life really operates. All I can say is buy it! You won't regret it.By the way, I bought my friend a Perfect 1864 Martini for bringing such a great book into my life.

"Life" by Lauren Tratar is an excellent book that delves into some astonishing information about the nature of personal reality, negative energy vortex, adamantine particles, and magnetic evidence. This is a very valuable workbook and guide. Firstly the reader explores their present beliefs, and then identifies what is wanted out of life, and finally how to use the law of attraction to manifest what you really want.

Also included are some extremely vlauable tools to guide you back on your path if you've lost your way.

A must read for anyone who is serious about personal self development work.

Some more powerful books that I recommend are:

The Astonishing Power of Emotions

Nexus: A Neo Novel
