An animal's niche includes where it lives on the reef, what it eats, how it finds food, and how it defends itself against predators. Some reef animals are covered with sharp spines that keep predators away. Others are flat or oddly shaped so they can slip into places where predators cannot follow.

This book has beautiful, vibrant pictures. The text is child-friendly, easy to read and understand. This is a great resource for elementary classrooms.
