5.0 out of 5 stars Remastered From Vinyl?, January 21, 2000

Great album, GLAD they reissued it, way ahead of it's time, same with Ludichrist (whom I SERIOUSLY wish would do a reunion tour) . . .stellar. HOWEVER, when I first listened to it, I thought "No way, they couldn't possibly have . . . ". All of those pops and hisses I was hearing. . . . but I picked up the latest edition of Metal Maniacs, and my suspicions were confirmed because another reader asked the same thing: "Life of Dreams" is remastered from VINYL.

Now some vinyl purists will argue that vinyl sounds deeper and more "authentic". Others will say it's a cheap cop-out. The reason for this is that sadly, the original masters for this album are apparently gone forever, and they had no choice but to go off of the vinyl edition of the album.

Still, this is one welcome trip down memory lane if you were a disaffected high school senior back in 86 - 87 when this came out. The Crumbs were never able to capture the magic on subsequent releases, but their unmistakeable sound shines on this one. Now if only SOMEONE would re-issue "Universe" by the Dead Brain Cells . . .THEN I'd be a happy camper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not too much better than this, December 17, 2000

Probably the best musicians to come out of the NYHC scene (although it shows a lot more on "B.O.M.B."), this record should be in all hardcore/punk fans collection. The re-release is decent, except for the fact that it was taken from vinyl and actually SKIPS in one song (Hub Run). That's pitiful.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most intense metal/crossover album, October 22, 2001

This blew me away when it came out, and it still does. Intense ripping metal/crossover up there with D.R.I.'s Thrash Zone. The Cd version I purchased from a few years ago (import) has both "Life of Dreams" and "Beast on my Back on one disc, and neither one was mastered from vinyl. Makes more sense since both lps are on the short side. This version sounds great and is worth looking for.

5.0 out of 5 stars life of dreams, December 17, 1999

This review is from: Life of Dreams (Audio Cassette)
I have searched for years to find this classic hardcore album. Until a friend of mine turned me onto amazon.com i thought all was lost. This is definately one of the best hardcore albums of all time. Bands like the crumbsuckers, agnostic front, cro-mags, and sick of it all is some of the best hardcore has to offer. If you are a fan of loud, fast music that sends shock waves through your body and starts your heart pounding this is one for you. anyone who is a true fan of hardcore music must have this one in their library.

A Great Debut Cd by one the most Unrated bands of the NYC scene that really didn't get the recognition they deserved. Fast Riffs, Harsh vocals, and songs that are really short. Get this Cd if you can it will not be a disappointment. Enjoy this Hardcore Thrash Assault!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Crumbs on the mind, March 5, 2010
This review is from: Life of Dreams (Audio CD)
As a young metalhead(slayer, possessed, venom, celtic frost) in the late 80s I heard this album for the first time.Killer lyrics, Killer voice,Killer music! Loved it so much I went to the live show at a punk joint as a metalhead. Needles to say some skank tried to get me and my fellow metalhead friend's arses kicked. Before the Crumbsuckers came on she got on stage and basicaly said get the metalheads out! I looked at the punk dude next to me with a talla** mohawk we grabbed hands in the air and yelled METAL & PUNK UNITED & STRONG! Luckily everybody agreed and booed her off the stage. Great show even got to sing a line. These two albums are a must for anybody that loves hardcore punk or metal. Still have both albums on cassette. Wish there woulda been more from the Crumsuckers but whatcha gonna do.

Crumbsuckers first album is very hard to find and is a true classic ,Was very happy to get my grubby paws on it for a reasonable price ,I was fortunate to see the Crumsuckers live in N.Y. in 1986 and don`t regret driving from California to do so

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellence..., July 3, 2008
This review is from: Life of Dreams (Audio CD)
I`ll keep this short and sweet (just like this album!!)... it is a groundbreaking album in that its a true crossover/hardcore assault, but it is played with great precision and pace; brilliant musicians.
In a word (and in my humble opinion), EXCELLENCE!!
Unlike many of the newer breeds of bands, this is the REAL deal with NO sell-outs... I so wish the newer breed would take note.
From a massive fan, but written in all sincerity and honesty.
