This is a book that should be read and studied by all believers in God. It should also be studied by people who are interested in a career in political science or people who eventually want to become a prime minister. And, it should be read by national leaders who still believe that Plato's 'philosopher king' can lead the people of a democratic nation. As President Putin of Russia continues to say correctly that there are many different forms of democracy that will work properly.

This book showed me that Germany's Hitler and Italy's Mussolini were very ugly and inhumane. It also shows that religions can be ungodly when they force a religion onto free people. It shows the origin of today's terrorism.

Emperor Haile Sellassie I was a great developer of the human spirit and Nature's resources. Everything he did was for the benefit of the people of Ethiopia and those nations that joined the League of Nations. His work to unify science and theology was new and should become a 'development' model for all nations today.

The whole work of the book is very inspirational, historically it is educational and legendary. The new generations of Ethiopian or the Eritrean will learn from it what they have not been told correctly. History never chnages. The book has it all. It is compiled very well, charismatic and the writer is to be admired for his great work. Everyone must read this book for self uplifting or for your edification.

As an autobiography, this book gives the reader insight into the philosophies and thinking of one of the world's most influential African leaders of the 20th century.

I am happy that I was able to find a copy of this, though my ability to ascertain its validity is somewhat limited. The Book Itself opens a world of questions and realities that even the most educated are widely unaware of. In all of our histories taught to us, before World War 2 the Italians had invaded a Christian realm which established itself among nations in agreements of peace and trade. We never hear the other side, a side which took great pains to avoid military conflict, with its history well documented and verifiable. My only issue is with the way in which this autobiography, by a man descended from the line of Solomon and who traces its Christian heritage to more than a thousand years ago, is the fact its published under 'Black Studies'. This book has nothing to do with 'Black Studies' nor do I understand what a black study is. Though the translations may be rough a remnant of truth still prevails, just as the line of David and the Lion of Judah lives on.

This book is an essential read in the understanding of International History and Politic. See: the Bible, Revelations 5:5

I haven't finished this book yet but regardless it has been a blessing to me to read about Haile Selassie's life! He is such an inspiration and a Godly man! I praise God for his exemplary life! I definetely recommend this book to anyone who wants to know more about life, and those who want to learn knowledge, for his life story is a fountain of it!! Bless

It is of the highest inspiration for I to read the words of His Majesty. Such humbleness, reverence, and clarity in His pure personality. Cast aside all doctrines and dogmas they tell you about HIM and Empress Menen. Find out for yourself, straight up from the source. I and I father is truly devoted to the Most High, to his people, yes I, to his children of all generations. Through trial and tribulation. But don't take it from another. Hear for your self Idren.

Christ returned as this man. This is not a mere assertion. A King has utilized the nature of the Christ Mind and shaped an entire nation, had leaders, kings, and rulers bow to him. Praised for his spirituality and his politics that is first and foremost likened to the teachings of Iyesus Kristos. Now if you do read the Bible from beginning to end in its context and not in selective passages then you would see the correlation and fulfillment of the Kingdom of the one true Christ applied to modern society. If you don't believe me, read this autobiography, see for yourself. Remember to have a Bible in hand, particularly Revelations and Psalms and with an open mind allow the Spirit to reveal this to you. And even if you study this work in a secular or simply scholastic manner, you will no doubt realize the particular mindset of this special man; unlike any ruler in history; to apply the teachings of Christ directly into modern politics and leadership and have it recognized throughout the earth. This information was not taught in my high school history classes and I find it unbelievable that our system would omit this, especially since these events mark the precursor to what we know as the Jewish Holocaust, however this book documents the Holocaust of the Black Jews; never spoken of in any history class. And the way His Majesty has dealt with it whether in the temporal space of the actual on going events in leading the war to the deliberate omission, propaganda, and lies of history to this day, is in the manner of the True Christ; Our modern day Messiah and His teachings.

It is a must read for any person seeking the truth and for those of us who are ORthodox Christians.

The Ethiopian original of the Kebra Nagast is a depository of Ethiopian national and religious feelings which has survived intact for 700 years as preserved by the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. It is a document of Faith to many Ethiopian Christians. To alter Holy Scripture by a world renown story teller (Gerald Hausman) borders on Blasphemy . This abridged versions deletes all of the Christian aspects of the Kebra Nagast and ignores the fact that Haile Sellassie I was a devout Christian who wrote the introduction to the "Haile Selassie Version of the Bible". If you are willing to accept Halie Sellassi I as divine in any manner, it is probably blasphemy to second judge His wisdom and reject Christianity.

The book is well written and does a good job of organizing the story told in the first half of the original Kebra Nagast which essentially relates to the old testament and that is it's only saving grace.
