About the Author
Dr. Maurice A. Lee, a successful Orangeburg, South Carolina pharmacist, was born in 1976. He received his BS in biology from South Carolina State University. He furthered his education at the Medical University of South Carolina and received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, thus becoming the first black male pharmacist from Eutawville, South Carolina. He has spoken to South Carolina communities, schools, and churches on health-care and other subjects that concern the health benefits of people. He understands the hardships endured by students longing to take advantage of higher education. He was once one of those struggling students and invested his own capital in the M.A. Lee Scholarship Fund, which assists students with money for tuition, books, and housing. He has an overwhelming desire to help others and embraces educational and developmental growth. He was also featured as one of Essence magazine's 2008 Do Right Men.
