5.0 out of 5 stars Best top of the line elliptical for me
I'm 6'4" 265lbs. Wanting the very best elliptical I narrowed my search to Precor and the Life Fitness X7 & Club models. Testing the Precor models I found the incline ramp, even at it's lowest settting, put a little too much stress on my knees, not too bad but worried what years of working out like that would do to me in the end. So then it came down to the X7/Advanced or...

1.0 out of 5 stars Life Fitness Ellipticals - Stay Away!
We owned 15 Life Fitness ellipticals in our health club. They were the next higher model to this one. They contained a known manufacturers defect. Once on our property, Life Fitness refused to stand behind their product even after admitting that the product was faulty. This was over a $50,000 investment. I will NEVER buy another elliptical from this company!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best top of the line elliptical for me, May 15, 2008
This review is from: Life Fitness Club Series Elliptical Cross-Trainer (Sports)
I'm 6'4" 265lbs. Wanting the very best elliptical I narrowed my search to Precor and the Life Fitness X7 & Club models. Testing the Precor models I found the incline ramp, even at it's lowest settting, put a little too much stress on my knees, not too bad but worried what years of working out like that would do to me in the end. So then it came down to the X7/Advanced or the Club model. I was worried the Club's fixed 18" stride might be to short for me so I was interested in the X7 which adjusts from 18" to 24". I found on the X7 anything over 18" I started to lean forward in a hunched over position, longer the stride the worse it got so the X7 was definitely out. The Club model was a perfect fit for me so I bought it and I'm very happy with it. I did get it at a local store. The X7 had the advantage of a little better console I thought being an lcd as opposed to the Club's led readout. The X7 was also completely silent while the Club had just a little bit of a whine noise while in use but nothing too loud you'd notice once the radio or tv is on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very happy with this purchase, February 18, 2010

We were hesitant to spend this much on a piece of home fitness equipment, but it has turned out to be well worth it. I love using the professional Life Fitness Elliptical machines at the gym and I could not find another elliptical trainer with the same natural motion. A local fitness equipment store that carries Life Fitness equipment would not budge on the MSRP, and we would have had to pay tax and $200 for shipping. Amazon was running a promotion for $300 off of the MSRP with no tax and free shipping so I bought it here.

The Life Fitness Club Series Elliptical is fantastic. Solid as a rock. It has a welded frame and is constructed the same as the professional model and the motion is the same. The difference is in the resistance system. The Life Fitness models in the health club create resistance by using some kind of electric generator that powers the electronics. The resistance on this model feels almost the same but is much quieter. The machine is very quiet all around but it would probably be disturing to others if not in a basement. This model requires plugging it in to an electric outlet. The heart rate sensors in the hand grips work great for me but not for my wife- she uses the wireless chest strap for HR.

The Life Fitness Elliptical shipped by freight and arrived in about a week. A giant 18-wheeler delivered it to the end of my driveway. Make sure you have some help unloading the equipment- it weighs about 300lbs with the packaging. It was a struggle for my wife and me to carry the main part of the machine to the basement because it is awkward and bulky and weighs over 200lbs. It was fairly easy to assemble but it took me close to an hour. The core of the machine is already put together. You have to attach the upper arms and assemble and attach the center stack with the electronics and attach the plastic covers that make the machine look finished. It came with the Phillip's screw driver and giant Allen wrench that was needed for assembly.

The best part of this machine is that I actually use it every day and am excited to use it. It functions the same as the health club version giving a great low-impact workout and I don't have to drive to the gym.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fantastic, April 1, 2010

The Life Fitness Club Series Elliptical Cross-Trainer provides you with an array of different work-out options. Whether you're a beginner who is just starting an exercise regimen or you've been working out regularly for years, this machine has something for everyone. My husband and I have a personal trainer, and he is envious that we have this machine in our home. It is definitely health-club grade, it glides smoothly and quietly, and has all the bells and whistles you'd expect from a high-end unit. All of the features that are advertised for this elliptical are not exaggerated. I highly recommend purchasing it if you're serious about getting fit, and enjoying getting there in the process.

I love this machine. It is nice to have gym quality equipment in my basement calling my name when I get home from work. If you can't make it to the gym on a regular basis this is for you!

1.0 out of 5 stars "Life" Fitness - if you're an ant, October 7, 2011
By
Michael D. (Buffalo, N.Y.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Life Fitness Club Series Elliptical Cross-Trainer (Sports)
An ant has a lifespan of three years. So does a "Life" Fitness elliptical. I purchased a Life Fitness X3 elliptical on 1/18/08. It came with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty. I could have purchased an elliptical for half the price I paid for the X3. I bought what was represented to be "the best" because it was also reputed to be "gym/club quality." I used it an average of 10 times per month, for the next 3-years. Within 2-3 months after the warranty expired I began experiencing some glitches. Over the next 2-3 months the glitches progressed to problems; and by 8/11 the elliptical was unusable. I contacted the retailer, and arranged for service. The technician told me that the motor had failed, and that most of the internal cables were broken. He also told me that he sees this type of failure "regularly" with Life Fitness ellipticals; and that it usually occurs shortly after the warranty expires. If this elliptical were in a "gym" or "club," it would have lasted about a month. It cost me $462.75 to replace the motor & cables. I decided to contact Life Fitness, because some companies will stand behind their product, even when they are not required to (by a warranty). That was when the lying began. Initially, the LF customer service supervisor (Mauro Raucci) told me that they would work with me to "reach an acceptable solution." An encouraging lie. He asked me to fax him the invoice for the repairs; which I did. After 3-weeks of silence, I e-mailed him again. He responded that LF could not reimburse me because the repairs were not done by a LF trained & certified technician. After speaking with the technician who repaired my elliptical, I advised Mr. Raucci that the technician as indeed trained & certified by LF. I even identified the individual from LF who trained him. No response. They had run out of lies. So, unless you're an ant, don't expect to stay fit for "life" with a "Life" Fitness elliptical.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Cardio Machine, October 14, 2011

I can't speak enough good things about this particular life fitness club series elliptical cross training machine, but what I can tell you is I've had the opportunity to work out on numerous commercial elliptical machines and find this series worth every penny. My advice, If you're looking for the best product for the bucks, always go for a commercial grade and if you're looking for an elliptical that will motivate you while getting in shape. "Get this model". This commercial model flows like running water and provides the best overall low impact workout that all family members grow to love.
