5.0 out of 5 stars life fitness elliptical a winner
Just bought the X7 life fitness elliptical. We have had this for a week. My whole family is using it. Nice smooth and quiet piece of equipment that gives a good workout. Only bad thing is unit is large and heavy. Has wheels in case you would like to move it. would recommend this unit. when we decided on this unit we tried many others including other name brands...

While I agree that the performance of the X7 was initially great (it's a great workout and offers good customization), it is not a durable product and I would not purchase it if I had it do again. I have had it for a little over 2 years, and the unit has been broken 5 times due to the malfunctioning of the stride adjustors, which Life Fitness knows are defective due to a design defect. Whenever this happens, the unit becomes completely unusable, for weeks (sometimes months) while parts are being ordered to have it fixed. Not to mention the fact that their warranty only covers labor for one year, so that each time it malfunctions I have had to pay over $100 in labor to have it fixed. And then, it works for a few months, and then breaks again, restarting the whole cycle . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, July 13, 2009

Replaced our broken treadmill with this product. It is great! Unbelievably quiet. We looked seriously at the comparable precor product, and thought it was good as well. Liked the feel of the lifefitness better. I can't wait for my next workout.

2.0 out of 5 stars No Reliable, September 16, 2011
This review is from: Life Fitness X7 Elliptical Cross-Trainer with Advanced Console (Sports)
The long-term functional quality of the X7 Elliptical Fitness Machine is unacceptable. I purchased my X7 Christmas 2009. For the first year, the machine worked great while handling ~10 hours of weekly exercise which eventually decreased to to 3-5 hrs/wk (well below the advertised 3 hours per day). After ~55 weeks, just over the one-year warranty period, it broke for the first time. I had to pay several hundred dollars for the repair. At this point, the repair-break cycle began on 3 month intervals. Once it breaks, the elipitcal defaults to the 18" stride length. A $4,000+ machine should not have these problems. Moreover, Lifefitness should advise the regional repair companies of the problems and develop a permanent repair, even if it was $500. A high end machine that is underutilized should not break at regular intervals.

Separately, the highest resistance on the flywheel, level 20, is not that difficult for my frame. This is inherent in the machine and cannot be increased. I am 6'2" and need more resistance than the flywheel can provide. On the other hand, my wife is smaller and the flywheel provides plenty of resistance for her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Elliptical Wonderful!, December 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I purchased the Life Fitness x7 Elliptical last November and it does not have clothes hanging from it even a year later!!! The variety of workouts available are such that I can get a complete, rigorous (or not) work out in 30 minutes or less or more! It is up to you. I love the convenience of having this in my home, not having to go to a gym or fitness facility. For the disciplined, this is the elliptical for you! The electronically adjustable stride is a key difference in this elliptical compared to others which have to be adjusted manually!
