Life Force, The Scientific Basis: Breakthrough Physics of Energy Medicine, Healing, Chi and Quantum Consciousness by Claude Swanson, PhD is an outstanding follow up to Dr. Swanson's first book, The Synchronized Universe: New Science of the Paranormal. These two books are volumes I and II of the Synchronized Universe series. Although it is very useful to read the first book, and I recommend doing so, it is not absolutely necessary to read the two volumes in order.

This book covers many topics which involve something Swanson calls life force or subtle energy. Some of these topics include Qigong, od, orgone, prana, auras, Kirilian images, GDV, acupuncture, orbs, Ormus, dowsing, ley lines, sacred sites, crop circles, pyramids, crystals, biophotons, and healing.

Swanson diligently cites all of the source literature. He is also careful to note areas where instrumentation is not yet capable of capturing the information, and that the material presented is an amalgamation of a wide range of reports which show high congruence.... Some of the more prominently featured investigations that Swanson references were performed by Baron Karl von Reichenbach, Wilhelm Reich, William Tiller, Kim Bong Han, Joie Jones, Norm Shealy, Konstantin Korotkov, Victor Schauberger, Phil Callahan, Nikolai Kozyrev, Gennady Shipov, Anatoly Akimov, Robert Pavlita, Alexander Gurvich, Vlail Kaznacheyev, Herbert Frohlich, Fritz-Albert Popp, Jacques Benveniste, and Rustum Roy.

Dr. Swanson also includes a chapter on the application of this life force or subtle energy technology; the practitioners he highlights include Joao de Deus (John of God), Richard Bartlett, and Mahendra Kumar Trivedi.

The author brings forth the idea that, contrary to the second law of thermodynamics, entropy is conserved. He posits that there is no such thing as a closed system which continually increases its entropy, any increase in entropy must be balanced with a loss of entropy or increase in order (a/k/a negative entropy or negentropy) elsewhere, as part of a larger system as necessary. This exchange of entropy is mediated by torsion fields, which then must therefore be closely linked with the density and direction of time. Swanson relates how the many forms of subtle energy brought to light in the book fit into a torsion model, and how similar these threads are at the source, for instance von Reichenbach's od and Reich's orgone. This concept of negentropy is consistent with what we routinely experience, as all life forms exhibit this property, that is, systems which achieve a high degree of order in the midst of disorder.

The final chapter uses the torsion model to further develop Swanson's Synchronized Universe Model (SUM), his theory which concludes volume one. Many big picture concepts which touch the nature of existence are tied together using the groundwork presented throughout volumes one and two.

Regardless of what path one is traveling, this book is useful food for the journey. It provides a theoretical physics model which can be used to explain numerous phenomena, events Einstein called "spooky action at a distance" which troubled him greatly, yet would seem to be beneficial. Additionally, it gives many examples with scientific backing which push out one's current constructs to support individual expansion of consciousness. Read more ›

This book is an excellent synthesis of the various types of subtle energies. It is easy to read with personal experiences by the author. There is also excellent data that explains the phenomena. Dr. Swanson is a physicist who has written a wealth of information on the various paranormal experiences, with personal experiences and data to support the concepts. It is easy to turn to any section of the book and read about a particular topic of interest. Great book!!

This tome covers alot of ground that up until recently had been read only in Metaphysical or New Age literature. My only criticism is that Dr. Swanson didn't keep it closer to more of a strict Scientific protocol as Dr. William Tiller does,but the conclusions are the same for both authors regarding Torsion/Axion/Scalar fields aka Galactic Dark Energy.

This is the first book by Claude Swanson that I've read. He's an MIT- & Princeton-credentialed physicist whose area is now the experimental evidence for phenomena that can't be explained under the materialist paradigm. This is an encyclopedia of such evidence, assembled and explained, with diagrams & photographs, & is thus a valuable resource (as opposed to an easy read). Anyone wishing to cite such evidence or get explanations that are in line with the rest of what is known in established physics and what else is verified on this frontier (for physics-of-the-future), would do well to own this book.

Dr. Shealy recommended this book in one of his books on energy healing, and I am so grateful that he did. This is one of the most complete books on this topic that I have seen anywhere, and it appears to be thoroughly researched. Editing is excellent as well.

If I had any gripes at all, it would be the SIZE of the book. Books with this much information would necessarily be huge, but this book is so big that one almost requires a luggage cart to carry it around! Not a book you can tuck into your bag to read in the checkout line, that's for sure! So my request to the author and publishers: PLEASE PUT THIS BOOK ON KINDLE, for easier reading.

Actually, purchasing a Kindle version and the paper version would the best of all possible worlds. Amazon, author, publisher--please make it so!

It's LONG (700+ pages) and it took me reading it twice to really assimilate all that was in it, but it is cutting edge scientific information regarding a topic that is hard to find PhD physicists that write about it. This book is recommended for the serious scientist or researcher foccused on Biofield studies, it contains many scientific references and a good knowledge and experimental data base to inspire the students and scientists.
We have a biofield research group at a Federal University on Brazil, and this book was a good and reliable source of information. Science is waking up for new realities and new challenges and for the serious researcher trying to build a bridge between orthodox science and unexplained biological phenomena this is the book.
