Freak Out - 'Life' (Garden Of Delights), May 10, 2009
This review is from: Life (Audio CD)
Looks to be the short-lived band's second of two releases. 'Life' was recorded at a live gig on April 24, 1971 at the Klagenfurt Concert Hall - as the band is from Knitlefield, Austria. Nothing out-standing here, but okay for an obscure title I thought - I guess some might consider this music as 'progressive'. Couple of the tracks I was sort of getting absorbed into were - well, as I soon discovered Freak Out were performing mostly covers - like the opener Santana's "Evil Ways", the Stone's "Everybody Need Somebody To Love" and above that a couple of East Of Eden songs - "Leaping Beauties For Rudy" and "Ramadhan, Part III". I mean, I do like East Of Eden and all, but I never imagined another band covering their material. Even exchanged emails from a founding East Of Eden member not too long ago. He informed me that the three core members of East Of Eden wasn't interested in touring Europe following the release of their reunion 'Kalipse' CD (see my review). Getting back to this 'Life' CD, heard that nine (9) of this performance's songs were accidentally 'erased over' on the source tape. Too bad.
