This is a very cool little product. I've only used it a few times, but it is extremely versatile, does what it is expected to do and is, so far, very reliable. The radio has great reception, the lights a very bright for a smaller lantern, and the controls are easy to use. I love it.

Ordered this after hurricane Ike knocked out power at my home for 5 days. Well made, very light and performs as advertised.
Small enough to actually put in a large jacket pocket. My only gripe is the dial not illuminated by the lantern. Haven't tried to charge it using the solar panel yet, but other then not being able to see the radio dial it is tip top.

I bought this for the upcoming hurricane season. I figured it would be good to have it since it is operable by AA battery(yes, i know that amazon.com says it uses AAA's but it takes AA batteries), solar, crank, or the optional ac/dc charger. Straight out of the box, and trying my best to read the instructions which seemed to have been translated from Chinese to English by someone who speaks neither, the LED's didn't work. Not by flipping the switch inside and using the crank. Not be reswitching the switch and using the inserted AA batteries. Nothing. The radio was fine, the siren, while not enough to alert anyone to anything, worked fine. The so-called TORCH, which is just a faint flashlight, about the brightness of a penlight operated by a single AAA worked fine. But this is a lantern, and the lantern did not work. This isn't exactly the quality of product I want to depend upon in a blackout. Shop around.

The product does create a good amount of light and does work in the various modes. However, the radio function does not work but intermittently as there seems to be an issue with the volume control when it did work once. I tried to turn it up and it stopped working all together. Keep your packing invoice and original packaging if you get this product, test it thoroughly when you get it. Do your research, there might be other choices on the market that will do a better job.

I have used this product couple of times and I wish the light was brighter. It is bright enough for finding your way in the dark, but don't expect to read a book in its light without straining your eyes. Siren is good and loud, radio is also loud and clear. Haven't yet tried charging the product through solar panel or cranking. The adapters are on back-order so haven't tried those as well. Will update this review if I notice any major positive or negative change.

I wanted to use this product when the power goes out. Fully charged by solar, went into a bathroom with no windows and could barely see anything with either the 'flashlight' or the 'torch' settings. My cell phone gives out more light than this product.
I wanted a light that didn't require batteries...I am going to return and look for something more powerful with a larger solar panel. The radio is great though. |
