Book Description

December 20, 2000
Twenty-two essays and one short story chronicle one man's emotional journey through divorce in a sensitive manner designed to appeal to both men and women. Most essays are serious and inspirational, others are quite humorous.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Writing these essays began as a way to maintain my sanity during the turmoil of divorce. I hope readers will use this book as part of their strategy to maintain their own sanity during divorce.

From the Inside Flap

. . . While this book is written for anyone who is going through or has gone through divorce, I think its message speaks to others as well. It is also written for the parents and friends of the divorced, who wonder how to help as their loved ones strugle. I hope the older children of divorcing parents might find some insight here, children wondering what could possibly be going through their parents' minds. The book is also written for anyone who has ever wondered why bad things happen and how to survive the bad things that do happen. Finally, this book is written for my generation: the generation which made divorce commonplace and acceptable. Where did we go wrong, guys? How do we justify this legacy of grief and loss we are leaving to our kids? Can divorce change us in ways that help make up for the sorrow we are visiting upon our families and ourselves?

... Some of my essays are, I hope, quite funny. Please don't assume that I am making light of the pain that divorce causes. One of the most important lessons I learned was that healing begins with laughter.
