THE ADICTS are an English punk rock band from Ipswich, Suffolk, England. Popular in the 1980s, they were often in the indie charts at that time. Their song "Viva La Revolution" was featured in the video game Tony Hawk's Underground. It was also featured in a commercial for the E! channel advertising their reality television show Pop Fiction. THE ADICTS originated as Afterbirth ... Read more in Amazon's Adicts Store

Editorial Reviews

2009 album from the veteran British Punk outfit, still featuring all four original members. The Adicts hail from Ipswich, Suffolk, England and were one of the most popular 'old school' Punk bands throughout the '80s, '90s and beyond. Their song 'Viva La Revolution' was featured in the video game Tony Hawk's Underground and in commercials for the E! channel advertising their reality television show Pop Fiction. The band formed in late 1975 and became known for their distinctive Clockwork Orange droog image, which, along with their urgent, up-tempo music and light-hearted lyrics, helped set them apart from other Punk bands. They remain one of the most entertaining bands live, Punk or otherwise, and continue to release albums filled with top notch Punk/Pop tunes. EMI.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life Goes On... With A Vengeance! January 2, 2011
Format:Audio CD
The Adicts are back with a new album, and it is well worth the wait. It's hard to believe that these same four maniacal droogs have been bashing it out onstage for 30+ years--even harder to fathom when listening to this album, which sounds as fresh and focused as anything they've ever done. Sure, it's not as bombastic or shocking as `Songs Of Praise' or `Sound Of Music' were back in the early 80s, but it is every bit as energetic, entertaining, and important as those records. `The Whole World's Gone Mad', `Full Circle', and `We Ain't Got A Say' are immediate standouts for me, with `I Love You But Don't Come Near Me' and the title track coming damn close. `Life Goes On' may be a little closer to garage rock than punk fury in places, and it may have a little more shine and polish than one might expect, but this is as good a representation of punk circa 2010 as anything, and it will remain in my playlist for a long, long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Adicts Have Still Got it! February 4, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I bought Life Goes On back in 2009, before it was released in the USA. It is a fantastic album. I've been a fan of The Adicts since the 1980s, and I think I have almost everything they've ever released. This one is just as good as anything they've ever done. Standout tracks for me are 'The Whole World's Gone Mad,' 'I Love You, But Don't Come Near Me,' and 'Mr. Hard.' But I liked the whole album.

I purchased the special import version that came with a bonus DVD. It was quite entertaining, showing live performances and backstage antics. I've seen them live a dozen times over the decades, and this footage inspires in me the desire to go see them play again.

Overall, this is a great addition to anyone's punk rock music collection, and especially so for fans of The Adicts. I'm listening to it now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Adicts Life Goes On is another classic. November 2, 2009
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
According to the Adicts sight, the new album will come out November 27th in Europe with no mention of a U.S. date. My guess would be early January. I have seen January 4th as a tentative date. Enough with rumor, lets get to the facts.
Life Goes On is another great album from the Adicts. It's full of catchy sing alongs and an over all good time. The cd has 13 tracks with a hidden song at the end. The hidden song is actually a reprise of the song Gangster (track 7 on the cd). As with the last studio album Rollercoaster, the Adicts just added a reprise of 1 of the songs on the cd. I have heard this cd a few times. It is out, but very very hard to find. A friend from Germany found a copy. Supposedly the album did come out very briefly in Germany, but the company manufacturing the cd's went under before a full press run could be completed.
All in all the new cd is very good. I enjoyed Rollercoaster and I even enjoyed Rise and Shine. The Adicts prove with Life Goes On that you can still have fun in music without the corporate Major Labels imposing their will on your artistic expression. Yes, the last few Adicts cd's have been a little tough to find in your local music store, but I would trade working to find a good cd over listening to the same pre-made garbage that the record industry wants to call "Music". Music is not 5 writers recycling the same song for the teeny-poppers without live musicians. Real music is what the Adicts are, original and fun. 30 years in and the Adicts are still going strong. I can't wait for this to come out in the states. A real treat, do yourself a favor and pick this up when it comes out. Well worth it.
