I received the calendar soon after I ordered it, but did not open it until January 1st. I sadly found that the usual humorous quotes and birthdays of popular culture figures were replaced with the birthdays of African and Arabian figures and references to African media. I have purchased the Life In Hell wall calendars for many years and have enjoyed the daily items. In the past, each day has had at least one birthday and one event. This years calendar has many blank days and many without birthdays. There is no reference in Amazon's ordering system indicating a region or preference for the calendar. I am terribly disappointed and will not be purchasing it again.

Too many days for some months,

Reportedly, this calendar shows the months of April and June as each having 31 days, which is a mistake.

No "Matt" font?,

I'm not as fazed as the others about the Afrocentric birthdays and proverbs, or even the empty spaces (were you expecting "N" names this year?) but the choice of font vs. the one based on Matt Groening's handwriting is disappointing.

I've been buying the "Life in Hell" calendar for years. This one is a real disappointment. The calendar description reads:
"You also get puzzling philosophical questions, great dates in Life In Hell history, famous people's birthdays, and trivial but significant recommendations on how to enrich your life." Sadly, not so much. There are a few birthdays, but many empty spaces as well. Also, the type used is just a generic sans-serif, instead if the previously used hand written looking font. It's a small thing, but it makes the calendar look... cheesy. |
