4.0 out of 5 stars Life As A House... Big Emotional Breakthrough in movies
I'm a 14 year old girl who has recently watched Life as A House. The movie was excellent and really touched my heart with it's meanings. It's my favorite movie and I hope that more people will watch it. Anyways, thanks for all of your reviews about the Soundtrack. I was searching for it in the local stores, and had I not found out that it was only scores from the movie,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Real Soundtrack
I agree that the soundtrack is more like a score. The music on the film was awesome and I think you should take the previously given advice and create your own soundtrack. I have the DVD and I wrote down all the songs from the credits. Here they are:

Guster - What You Wish For
Guster - Rainy Day
Limp Bizkit - Re-arranged
Radiohead - How to Disappear...

It's my favorite movie and I hope that more people will watch it. Anyways, thanks for all of your reviews about the Soundtrack. I was searching for it in the local stores, and had I not found out that it was only scores from the movie, not the pop/rock songs (that really helped the movie, I think, rather than the scores) were on there, I would have bought it. Thanks! And I also would like to say that The pop/rock songs on the movie were great, and I made a soundtrack of my own from the songs I caught on the scroll at the end. Here's a list:

Guster - What You Wish For
Guster - Rainy Day
Limp Bizkit - Re-arranged
Radiohead - How to Disappear Completely
Joni Mitchell - Both Sides Now
Marilyn Manson - Sweet Dreams [Are Made of This]
Supertones - Who Can Be Against Me
Violent Femmes - Children of the Revolution
Gob - That's the Way
On - Soluble Words
Default - Live a Lie
Default - Somewhere
Ohgr - Water
Deadsy - Gramercy Park

I hope someone finds this helpful! Keep watching the movie, as have I like 25 times! hehe. It's awesome

1.0 out of 5 stars Songs from Movie, January 27, 2002
By
This review is from: Life as a House: Original Motion Picture Score (Audio CD)
Hi all, I've searched high and low and found these songs are on the movie. Since I can't get my hands on the movie to watch and sit through the credits I did it by ear and searching everywhere. Anyway there are still 3 songs I haven't figured out. But these are the 8 songs that are in movie. My suggestion, there won't be a soundtrack so just make your own.
Guster - What you Want
Guster - Rainy Day
Limp Bizkit - Rearranged
Radiohead - How to Disappear
Joni Mitchell - Both sides Now
Marilyn Manson - Sweet Dreams
Supertones - Who Can Be Against Me
Violent Femmes - Children of the Revolution

5.0 out of 5 stars Why This Movie is Incredible, January 24, 2003

I saw this movie several months ago, and I balled like a baby. I don't know what it is about this movie, it just touches me very deeply everytime I watch and I cry almost everytime. For a very long time I didn't know what it was about it, but I realized that it was the beautiful score that Mark Isham wrote for this movie that got to me. I highly recommend that you buy this cd, and if you haven't seen the movie stop wasting time and go get...right now!

2.0 out of 5 stars Please release a Soundtrack in addition to this Score., December 20, 2001

I agree with all the comments. I saw the movie on a preview night. I went immediately to my computer to put myself on a waiting list for the release of the soundtrack, however, though I was happy to see something was available, I know only too well that the word "Score" is a clear indication you are not going to be getting any commercially released music that you heard during the movie. Though I will not buy the score, I would absolutely buy a Soundtrack of this movie. To those in the high castle, please consider releasing this as a soundtrack, but do it soon before the movie fades from our memories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why 'review' what this IS NOT?, November 28, 2007
This review is from: Life as a House: Original Motion Picture Score (Audio CD)
I can NEVER understand people who think they're reviewing something that is
only related because SOME of it's in the same movie. No, there aren't any
songs on this cd. There isn't supposed to be! HERE IS THE SCORE. And it's
INCREDIBLE! It has choked me up and put me to tears, time and time again.
Without THIS music, I doubt the movie would've worked. I think the other 4+
star reviews (of the SCORE, NOT the movie or songs) are where you should be
looking now. I'm too incensed to feel the love I have for Isham's work. ----
[Now that it's a year later, I've calmed down. I'm feeling the love again.]

5.0 out of 5 stars " As good as it gets for a movie soundtrack", August 22, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Life as a House: Original Motion Picture Score (Audio CD)
A wonderful soundtrack that allows us to return to the film that made us think and continues to linger in our minds..It was Joni Mitchell who sang "Both Sides Now" Her voice has changed through the years and this is a song on her 2000 CD appropriately titled "Joni Mitchell Both Sides Now"..Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great score for an amazing movie, May 19, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Life as a House: Original Motion Picture Score (Audio CD)
I really love this CD. It captures the emotion of the film so well, especially the last song, "I Built Myself a Life." I also loved the rock/pop songs from the film, especially "What You Wish For" and "Rainy Day" by Guster (great band), and "Soluble Words" by On. Wish they'd release a separate album with the rock/pop songs from the movie too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Music!, March 21, 2002
By
Craig (Syracuse, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Life as a House: Original Motion Picture Score (Audio CD)
I think that this music is so beautiful, very uplifting, and I think that we will be hearing a lot more about Mark Isham soon. His music is very enchanting, compelling, and uplifting, and he has also done the music to films such as Hardball, Don't say a Work, Men Of Honor, October Sky, just to name a few. For everyone below me who gave this CD one star, this is the SCORE from the movie, the SCORE, which means that it is instrumental music by the composer. A soundtrack of this movie was not made, and that is too bad, but don't bash the incredible score to this incredible movie :-)
