This was very shallow, would have liked a little more detail through out the book.

Format: Hardcover
"Life Inside the Bubble" by Dan Bongino is the story about a man who went from being a cop and secret agent, to eventually completely abandoning his career and embarking upon the dark water of policy.

Dan Bongino started his career as member of NY Police Department, in his home city where he was raised since he was born in Queens.
Although he grew up modestly, from the start of his career he gradually started ascending the hierarchy by successful realization of his tasks, gaining greater and more important jobs that eventually led him to become a member of elite Presidential Protective Division in White House.

Because of all the things he experienced while working as secret agent, together with his own beliefs he decided to leave a long career in which he was successful.
Instead he resigned from the Secret Service in 2011 and decided to enter into uncertain world of politics, running for the United States Senate against the Democrats.

In his book he described his entire life so far, not neglecting any period, speaking about his childhood, time he spent in NYPD, the stories about him becoming Secret Service agent and time he spent working there.

And though I guess that due to his political beliefs, the book (as well as this review) will be probably a priori rejected from all those who think differently, I suggest that you dedicate some time and even if you think otherwise give it a chance (at least borrowing it from your local library).
The book is decently written and provides some information that would be of interest to every American citizen.

I was lucky enough to receive a copy of this book last week before it hit the shelves. This is a compelling biography about a former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino and his life struggles. Bongino's story begins in Queens, NY as a child. His family was poor and life was tough. He talks about his time with the NYPD and how he landed a job with the Secrete Service. It's packed with plenty of stories in between.

Those of you who felt compelled to write a negative review of this book should now go back and actually read it. Don't pull a Pelosi, it's so obvious that you never read the book because you don't know what's in it.

I per-ordered 3 books for Christmas gifts and will order a few more. Great job Dan Bongino, I can't wait for the sequel!

Former Agent Dan Bongino has added a fine volume to the cannon of works on the Secret Service. I salute you, sir: you are a dedicated public servant and best of luck in all you do. Great book- very well written! Mr. Bongino speaks well on television, as well, and this book speaks just as well.

My copy finally arrived and I loved it. It really was a "Snap Shot" into the life of Dan Bongino. There were no big secrets about what goes on behind the scenes in DC but you really got a feel for the Day to Day life behind the "Curtain". Really enjoyed it.

Dan tells it like it is. Thanx Dan , for not being afraid to speak out . The criminals in DC (yes, including you-know-who too !) need to be exposed NOW before it's too late.

I couldn't put it down. His story is interesting, the book well-written, and inspiring. It made me work harder at the gym. I want to be tough too! It was riveting look inside the Secret Service and the gov't. The book answers some questions I've had about how, in the age of information, can the current administration be surprised and mystified by world events! I really appreciated the details about Bengazi. Nothing I heard on the news made sense. Politicians are counting on us not paying attention. When Jay Leno does his "Jay Walk" we laugh at how ignorant Americans can be about important issues, but it's not funny. It's scary. Reading this book reminded me again how glad I am that there are some tough, honorable people with our best interests at heart. Sadly if they are in WA DC, they can't get anything done. I went to buy several to give for Christmas, and what!? it's not out in hard back yet. I expect interesting things from Dan Bongino. Maybe elected office isn't the most effective way to get good things done. not WA DC anyway...

This book flows very easily. It is a good story about life for the run of the mill Secret Service agent. The story focuses on the personal side of an agent's life. You get a sense of what they do, the connected pressures, and the personal strains they all undertake in the name of duty. The story is light on the technical side of the job. You won't get much on the weapons, tactics and all of that good stuff. That is about the first 100 pages of the book.

The second half of the book is where I ran into disappointment. His interviews on TV made the book sound like a new political scandal book. You wont' see much of that in the book. Mr. Bongino talks about a few of the recent scandals. His summary of these events are very concise and entertaining. However he really doesn't offer anything new which hasn't been talked about before in the media. I did enjoy the chapter about his Senate run. He was able to get the nomination but lost in the general. That sort of does give the average person a sense of hope that the political class doesn't run everything.

You do get a sense of who the author is in the book. He has little opinion inserts all through the book. There should have been more of that. You do get a sense that he is a true American hero. I hope eventually he gets elected.

Dan joined the ranks of the U.S. Secret Service in 1999 as a special agent where he graduated the Secret Service training academy with academic honors. Beginning his career in the New York Field Office, he was assigned to investigate computer crimes, bank fraud, credit card fraud and counterfeiting. His early career was marked by a number of investigative successes. Although the details of his signature investigation are still for official use only, it involved over 300 million dollars in potential financial fraud and a nexus to international terrorism. This joint investigation in cooperation with the FBI, IRS, SSA and a number of local police agencies, was responsible for shutting down a major international fraud ring. The investigation earned Dan the Department of Justice recognition award, along with other agency specific awards, for excellence in investigations.
Dan left the New York Field Office in 2002 to become an instructor at the Secret Service training academy in Beltsville, Maryland.
In 2006, Dan entered into duty on the elite Presidential Protection Division in the administration of President George W. Dan distinguished himself early by becoming one of the earliest tenured Special Agents to be given responsibility for an operational section of the protective detail. Dan remained on protective duty during the change in administration to President Barack Obama and again distinguished himself by quickly becoming the highest ranking member of his operational shift of agents. With this distinction came greater responsibility and Dan quickly rose to the challenge. He was designated as the lead agent responsible for the coordination of the President's trip to Prague for the signing of the START treaty, his visit to Jakarta, Indonesia, amongst a myriad of terror threats, and finally as the lead agent responsible for the President's visit to an active war zone in Afghanistan. With the successful coordination of these historic events, Dan was awarded a series of commendations and left the protective detail as one of the most distinguished agents in their history.
Dan transferred to the Baltimore Field Office in 2010 where he immediately made an impact on the community, breaking up one of the largest fraud rings in Maryland's history.
