Despite the illusion that Rascal Flatts were the originators of this song, it was in fact Tom Cochrane from Manitoba, Canada, that wrote and first had a hit with it. This original version has a harder driving feel to it than the sanitized version that Rascal Flatts put out and remains a Canadian classic rock anthem.

Everytime I hear the cover version I am disappointed. And it is the only version you ever hear anymore! This is not the kind of song you should cover. That other band managed to take a great song and make it annoying. They accomplished nothing. The original is awesome. I'm so glad I found it!
