Book Description

By the time Donny Osmond's first solo single, 'Puppy Love', hit Number One in the summer of 1972, the 14-year-old was already a veteran of TV and Las Vegas. Part of the hitmaking family The Osmonds, and famed for his duets with sister Marie, with whom he went on to make the hugely popular series The Donny & Marie Show, Donny Osmond was THE teen pin-up of the 1970s. But after punk, the clean-cut approach wasn't so popular, and record companies felt that there would be no interest in the grown man.

In this revealingly honest memoir, Donny Osmond reveals how he kept faith, how he battled against a debilitating social phobia and made a hugely successful comeback, not just as a recording artist, but also as a star of stage in a record-breaking musical. He continues to tour regularly and remains hugely popular to his fans around the world. This book shows how he kept on going, and will be an inspirational read to all.

5.0 out of 5 stars A story worth reading July 25, 2008
Format:Paperback
As someone who grew up watching the Osmond family, I was always aware of Donny as one of The Osmond Brothers, then as a solo artist. His autobiography is a wonderful read. It gives the reader insight into what it was like to be part of a famous family and what was expected of them by others and themselves. Donny's personality and sense of humor are very evident in this book, as is his pain as he struggled to shake his teeny bopper image and be accepted as a serious artist. He's an incredible talent and it's wonderful to see him back on the world stage again. Whether you're a fan or just curious, the book is well worth your time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life Is Just What You Make It April 18, 2012

I wish everyone would take the time to read this book. It really lays the life of the Osmonds out there. So many people have such a poor opinion of Donny Osmond and his family. This is a very talented man that doesn't get the credit that he has worked hard for and deserves. As much as I thought I knew about Donny Osmond, was not even close to the truth. I couldn't put this book down. It is POWERFUL! Well written, full of emotion. It tells what this man has gone through to get where he is since he was a child. No one can even begin to imagine the trials and tribulations that this man (and his family) has been through. Fame did not just fall in their laps. Donny has overcome social anxiety, which a lot of people know is not an easy thing to do. If you have never been though any form of social anxiety then you can't even begin to know how bad it is. If you have, then you will undertand. I have such a high respect for Donny Osmond and sharing these details of his life was a brave thing to do. I was in tears throughout the book. Amazing life, AMAZING MAN. Fantastic Book!

Great reading - I kept on getting flash backs - when Donny was writing about his life I was remembering where I was , and I felt young again following my teenage idol.... It's amazing how life throws us so many obstacles at you and the choices you make in your life forms you as the person you are today. As I read certain parts of his book I found myself reliving videos on you tube and it made me smile - I was like you Ellen - I too was waiting for Donny just to meet me and all his prayers would have been answered! I am happy married with my wonderful husband who looks nothing like Donny! I'm so glad you and Debbie have a great relationship and thank you so much for sharing parts of your life with us including your social phobia - I so wished I was there to comfort you. I lost my mum too resenly and the words you described your mum sums up my mum too. If you haven't read the book, do yourself a favour do it! You'll be pleasantly surprised! Thank you Donny
Your fan forever :)
