Not bad but missing the best track from the film,
By A Customer
This review is from: A Life Less Ordinary (Audio CD)
An eclectic album, the film has a vast number of tunes and the album picks from across the board reflecting the film rather than aiming for any one musical genre. However this is it's failing, you can't play it when you're in a particular musical mood because some of the tracks will drive you nuts, if you wanted it because of the film, 'Leave' by REM is not the version from the film (but still good if you're into REM) and the omission of 'Round Are Way' by Oasis is criminal given that it's the track that the movie plays out on.A good try but a miss in my opinion.

very cool, but some songs are not the same as in the movie,

While this soundtrack comes with some great tracks, such as the title song by Ash, 'Velvet Divorce' from the Sneaker Pimps, 'War' from the Cardigans, 'Love is Here' from Luscious Jackson and 'Beyond the Sea' from Bobby Darin, a few tracks are not the same as they were in the movie. REM's 'Leave', for example, is much quieter as this mix omits the siren sound in the background (the version they played in the movie). It's nice, but if you wanted the movie version (like I did) be aware that it's a different mix and you might want to download the original. For some reason the very excellent 'Don't Leave' by Faithless is also a different mix; to hear the version played in the movie look for the 'Floating Mix'. Despite these changes, this is a great soundtrack nonetheless (I really do love 'Life Less Ordinary' by Ash, just a great punkish song that captures the feeling of the movie quite well).

Missing One of My Favourites!,
By Jamie Fraser (Toronto, Canada) - See all my reviews

I was pleased to see that most songs from the movie were included in the soundtrack, but the Oasis song, 'Around Are Way' that Ewan McGregor sang a few bars of in the movie was missing, and I would really have liked it if they had included the version of 'Beyond the Sea' that Ewan McGregor and Cameron Diaz sang together. That was one of my favourite scenes in the movie, and since Ewan has such a beautiful voice, I would have liked it if that version had made it onto the soundtrack.

Great album with one kinda major problem,

I was truly disappointed when I purchased the CD and brought it home. My favorite song from the movie, Oasis' "Around Are Way" was not on the album! MAJOR MISTAKE. "Leave" also wasn't the same fast version as it was in the movie. HOWEVER, the rest of the tracks on the album totally make up for it, in my opinion. One of my personal favorites was "Velvet Divorce." (It's the song that Cameron Diaz's "Celine" swims to in the movie). I really recommend buying this soundtrack, especially just so you can play "Don't Leave" by Faithless over, and over, and over, and over. . .

i really love this film! its one of my favorites, and the album i have owned for the past 7 years. my favorite track by sneaker pimps "velvet divorce" is what got my attention. but i was dissappointed about that song not being on the soundtrack where Robert gets fired, then dumped and gets drunk and passes out in his bed...I really wish it was on there and if I knew who sang it or the name of it at least! If anyone out there knows, please email me to idontcarewherejustfar@gmail.com. thanks so much!

Hardly an ordinary soundtrack,

If you want one of the most "alternative" soundtracks in recent memory, then you definitely want this one. There are several standout tracks on the album and you would be hard pressed to find any album fillers. Beck's "Deadweight" is a fuzzy lounge type of tune. The Sneaker Pimps' "Velvet Divorce" has a piano riff that is beautiful yet haunting when accompanied with Kerri Dayton's voice. Lou Barlow's project Folk Implosion is worthy of mention. Throw in some brilliant tracks by Underworld and Prodigy and loungy Elvis and Zippers and you've got a great soundtrack that deserves to standout from the plethora of 90's soundtracks.

I don't think there is one bad track on the entire CD. I never saw the movie, but LOVE this soundtrack. From ELVIS to Bobby DARIN, to Sneaker Pimps, this CD has it all. I loved it, very eclectic and just plain great music. BECK too!

A Life Less Ordinary Soundtrack,
By "xander82" (Sheffield, England) - See all my reviews

A classic soundtrack to one of my favorite movies. After seeing A Life Less Ordinary (probably my second favorite film) I bought the soundtrack. This eclectic soundtrack has a fantastic array of alternative tracks, golden-oldies and 'dance' music. Great Stuff. Classic songs like 'Beyond the Sea,' 'Always on my Mind' are featured amongst the fantastic 'Dont Leave' by Faithless. The rest of the songs are alt-rock (Ash, Beck etc) amonst 'dance' tunes. I have to admit, I hate dance tunes but the ones chosen here are actually really good! All in all, amazing. Listen to it before you buy it becuase it took me a bit of time to get used to it but when you do, it's a fantastic soothing album.

surprisingly good,

For a movie as notoriously lousy as A Life Less Ordinary, it bodes well for the continuing talent of director Danny Boyle that the music on here is so solid. It's definitely not all good - the stripped down version of REM's "Leave" and Prodigy's "Full Throttle" are nothing special. But the new ones that really work - the cuts by Sneaker Pimps, Beck, Luscious Jackson, Ash, and especially Folk Implosion's sleak "Kingdom of Lies" work great with the random Bobby Darin and Elvis inclusions. This compilation's a good time.
