I am a huge fan of Max Lucado, but not so much of this series for an individual study. However, I believe they would be quite effective as a small group guide. Max provides it all: the portion of God's word (in two translations) pertaining to that day's study, good discussion questions, a short related reading (often from his other works) and related Bible passages for further study.
I believe I would have given this at least four stars if I had completed it with a group instead of self-study (I found the questions more discussion-oriented versus self-reflection).

I have used a number of Max Lucado small group materials. Comparing his work to other small group resources I find it to be well written and very helpful in getting our group to have a lively discussion. Some small group material only reviews the Biblical text and does not require much thought. Lucado will develop questions that cause the group to expand upon the text and provoke good discussions. I recommend the study on Ephesians for a small group that has a spiritual maturity that is advanced beyond new believer status.

Gave it a shot and read the entire book with our small group. Questions are elementary and don't always related to the passage read. Struggle to spark good discussion time so we made up our own questions instead. May be better for beginners.

This book is wonderful for small groups. It is easy to understand, encourages your personal thoughts, and makes it easy to participate for the young Christian as well as the older Christian. Not young or old in age but in Christian living!

Max Lucado is absolutely the best author. He is so great at applying what the Word says about our lives in a practical perspective. The book of Ephesians is filled with so much food for our daily walk and Max Lucado does well in breaking it down so that you can eat it one bite at a time. The study really leaves you with captivating thoughts and makes you really think about why you think the way you do. You will enjoy this study. It is absolutely the best for enhancing your spiritual life.

This study has been very helpful in providing insightful and provocative questions for our small group discussions. Max Lucado's theology seems to be squarely in the mainstream evangelical camp. I find his studies that I have used so far to be excellent references for small group preparation.

Many studies I find stiff and contrived, but I love this one. It's insightful and personal.

I like the Max Lucado devotional books, but if you're looking for something in-depth, these aren't really for you. They are great for mom's groups, etc, but I think I prefer something with a little more meat to it. This is mostly just reading a passage in the Bible with questions about how the verses apply to your life.

Our group of High School guys seem to like it after a couple of chapters

I found this to be a good small group study as well as a good exegetical study of the book of Ephesians. In order to maximize the benefit, this study requires all small group members to do the work ahead of time.
