The Belvedere Downtown Hotel is a fairly easy model to assemble as it is, and makes a basic if fanciful hotel. It's real advantage is that it assembles as modules, one for each floor. Combining two kits allows for opportunities for a more useful and representative model. My variation has three floors with a central recessed entrance way and a sidewalk entrance for a professional office.
I do recommend spray painting the interior black to facilitate lighting. In both the hotel and kit-bash, I added plastic strips to hold card stock floors and made sure the windows have some sort of treatment. A common technique is to block off the view with construction paper, especially if the windows are clear. |
