5.0 out of 5 stars Meticulous research and writing., October 6, 2007
Although the author sincerely wished that no sexual encounter existed between Hick and ER, their letters certainly imply that it did. And the fact that Hick destroyed 15 letters before depositing the rest at the FDR Library is, in my opinion, further evidence of a physical relationship. However, perhaps, as the author said, we should not judge the 1930's and 1940's by 1980 standards; even though only forty years intervened. The book is very well written and documented. One could have wanted more direct quotations from the letters, especially of a more sensational nature but not to be expected from this author.
