Channeling a bit of his inner Tom Waits and celebrated artistic muse, Tyla has penned 13 songs that will leave you not only wanting more but wondering why you didn't hear this sooner. This is the kind of cd that you know has more than just one story behind it, it is a novella of epic proportions.
It's hard to draw comparisons-and almost seems rude to do so to a cd that has the depth to be a decisive and seminal release but remnants of a stripped down Lightnin' Hopkins added to a Bukowski-esque lyricist come to mind immediately. Romance, poetry and pathos reign here as a calling card for the broken hearted delivered with Tyla's signature throaty rasp which makes it all the more provocative and quite frankly, real.
Stand out tracks include "With the Angels" , "Poison Heart" and "The Loneliest Man in the World"...
As a more than accomplished artist, Tyla's distinctive artwork again graces the cover and liner notes within making the packaging almost as breathtaking as the gift it contains.
In short, his is a cd for lovers, friends, dreamers and the tragic elite. If you're looking for light and airy...stand aside..
