This collection of mixes and b-material is an excellent find from an obscure time in Wire's catalogue. Although the album 'Manscape' is much more a new wave project than Wire's signature punk, it's still a powerful piece of work. The album mix of this song is actually longer than what you find on the album, so in a sense you actually get 5 previously unreleased pieces. The other two mixes intended for release on vinyl never actually made it on vinyl, only onto here. The 7" isn't much different from the album version, but I still prefer it. The 12" mix is great; an instrumental for a few minutes, until it opens into the original mix.

I find that these two outtakes are superior to a lot of songs on 'Manscape'. I can understand if they were made after the release of the album, but if these really weren't considered good enough to be in place of other songs on the album, I really doubt the judgment of whoever decided that. Basically, if you don't really like 'Manscape', you may still enjoy these two songs, because they're, well, just better than a lot of tracks on the album.

This EP contains three mixes of the classic 'Life In The Manscape' track from the misunderstood masterpiece lp "Manscape", plus two tracks that didn't make it on the album. Both of these great songs later ended up on "Coating", but the third mix of 'Life In The Manscape' is unavailable anywhere else, is completely different and is mandatory. Grab your copy while you can as this obscure gem is long out of print.
